When Monsters University came into theaters, I was a junior in high school. I thought the writers were making things crazy and fun so that kids would love it. But after re-watching Monsters University, I've realized that the writers hit the nail on the head. Here are some of the big similarities between a real college experience and Monsters University.

It’s a lot of hard work to get into college.

You didn’t realize until you were applying to college how hard the process is. You also realize that if you didn’t work your booty off all four years of high school that can be the difference of a huge scholarship or even getting into your dream school. Mike Wazowski knew this from an early age and worked hard to get into his dream school. Since he worked so hard, he got into Monsters University.

Classes require a lot of work.

College is nothing like anything you’ve done before. Professors expect more out of you because you’re in college. You can’t rely on what you’ve learned in high school to get you the grades you want. Sully learned this the hard way. He thought that since he was scary that he would breeze through scaring school and get an awesome GPA. That failed him and he got kicked out of the scaring program. With help from Mike, he learned a lot about scaring and that just being scary is only half of the equation. He got his act together and ended up being an awesome scarer.

Changing your major (whether you want to or not).

Some majors will kick you out of their program if you don’t have a certain GPA or pass a test. Other times, you realize that a major isn’t for you and you change. Mike and Sully were both kicked out of the scaring program for failing their scaring final. They had to change their major to "can design." Have no fear because Mike and Sully ended up okay and you will too!

You’ll fail sometimes.

Sometimes, you are going to have a bad day. You don’t get a good grade or someone gets down on you and doesn’t believe in you. Mike Wazowski dealt with this a lot — everywhere he went, people told him he wasn’t scary and that he would never work for a scaring factory. However, he had friends who picked him up and reminded him that he can do it. Everyone has their support group who will always pick you up when you fall. You can do it!!

Joining a fraternity/sorority and finding your best friends.

The brothers of Oozma Kappa stuck together and pushed each other to be the best that they could be. Sororities and fraternities do the same thing. The Oozmas were a perfect example of a great Greek organization that didn’t haze and worked to be the best. Even though they were focused on the competition, the Oozma’s showed how Greek organizations not only give you friends for a lifetime but how they become your family.

You find out who you want to be.

College is a crazy ride. You go through some of the highest highs and the lowest lows. In the crazy mix of it all, you find the person who want to be. Mike and Sully went through one heck of a journey in one year of college. They found who they want to be and worked hard to become that person — it’s one of the best parts of college.

Monsters University writers deserve a lot of props for creating a hilarious movie that easily relatable to anyone over 18. You go Disney, keep making awesome movies.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
