With finals and graduation fast approaching, it is so important to remind ourselves why we are in school to keep us motivated until the very last test is turned in. We only have five Mondays left in the semester, so it is time to learn how to make something as dreadful as a Monday a day full of productivity and thankfulness instead of pain and binge watching.
Plan A Lunch Date
Having a weekly lunch date with one of your closest friends can bring an immense amount of light into your day. While you might’ve woken up late and then spilled coffee on yourself, if you have a lunch date, you can tell that person and be laughing about the fact that they did the exact same thing that morning!
Post Notes For Yourself
At the beginning of this semester, I put a big sign in my room as a reminder to help keep me motivated through out the semester and it reads: SUCK IT UP! This sign has helped me get off my butt when I want to watch just one more episode of "Gossip Girl", but I know that I have a paper due the next day. This particular saying might not be for you, but putting notes around your room that motivate you can be key to getting through a slow Monday.
Treat Yourself!
Be prepared for those symptoms of the Mondays before they hit you. Pack snacks and treats in your bag to take with you throughout the day so that when you have a pop quiz over the reading that you definitely did not do, you can reach in your bag or backpack and have a moment of peace while you eat that Kit Kat. While some professors won’t let you eat in class, it will be comforting to know that after class you can tear apart that bag of Cheetos.
Wear A Cute Outfit
One thing that always helps me have a good day is feeling confident about my outsides even if the insides are a complete mess. Putting on a solid outfit can improve your day by 47 percent, because while you thought to put on a cute outfit, everyone else is walking around in their pajamas still, so that makes you look even better.
Think: What Would Wanda Do?
For those of you who don’t know who Wanda is, replace Wanda with Beyonce or whoever you think is unstoppable and fabulous. Would they let the fact that it’s a Monday keep them from being the fantastic humans they are? NO. So neither should you! If you keep this mindset up throughout a Monday, you are bound to be productive and people will notice.
Mondays are bound to be awful, but they are never going away. It’s best to accept that fact and learn to take them not as they are, but as they could be. YES, WE CAN!
