To my mom's twin sister,
There will be a recurring theme throughout this whole letter: and that is simply thank you. There are thousands of thank yous I want to say to you, but that would certainly exceed the suggested word count for this article.
So let's start with the biggest one: thank you for always being there for me. Through the high ups, getting into college, graduating high school, etc, and the low lows you have always been there for me no exceptions. I know that when I need it I will always have someone to turn to.
When I'm going through something especially hard--or even something trivial--you know exactly what to say. In all my years of life, I have never heard you say the wrong thing. And it would completely shock me if you ever did say anything out of place.
Even if I'm not talking about something bothering me you can tell with one glance at my face and through my body language. It's special to have someone who knows you so well they are capable of doing this.
Thank you for never making me feel alone and for being a constant in my life. If my family or friends are busy you make time. I know that I am always able to rely on you.
Thank you for making it easy for me to confide in you. It is no easy feat to find someone you feel genuinely comfortable sharing anything with. People I have put my trust in have come and gone in my life. Not many have stayed as long as you have.
What makes it even easier to open up to you is that you feel like a second mother to me, I mean you practically are my mother. I am absolutely sure that I hit the jackpot when I got a mom who has an identical twin.
You are a special kind of aunt. Growing up I even thought you were my mom sometimes--it doesn't get much better than that. I not only have one wise mom, I have two. When I need affirmation from my mom and she may not be around, or she's busy, I know that you are just a phone call away. I know that you will likely say something nearly identical (haha get it, because you're identical twins?) to what my mom would say. And if I ever needed a little more push in the right direction I know exactly who I can go to.
You are one of the things I am most grateful for in my life. I could not have asked for a better person to be such a large influence on my life. You have guided me in so many of the right directions and I'm sure as life goes on you will continue to do just that.
So I just wanted to say thank you. Thank you for being you. Thank you for being genuine. And thank you for being such a fantastic aunt.
Love,
Your identical twin sister's daughter
