Who is the wonder woman in your life?

I got asked a question the other day and the question went something like this; "who is the wonder woman in your life"? Jokingly, I said my mom but as the day went on I kept pondering over this question. As girls, we are always expected to have a role model or someone to look up to. Most of us say our dads or moms, sometimes a brother is thrown in there but when I say my mom; I mean it. This isn't me trying to win brownie points or even me trying to suck up to her. I really do mean this when I say my mom is my super woman in my life. Really she is awesome and amazing. There are a million different words that I could use to describe her. My mom is an amazing woman in more ways then one. She is my cheerleader, the person I can count on the most. For nineteen years she has given me the love, support and the ability to reach for anything I want. She has taught me the value of being kind and standing my ground when something gets hard. She has also taught me that it is okay to cry sometimes when the world is not going your way but when the crying is done you get up and try again. My mom has put up with three kids and has given countless hours to all of us. Some might say that "oh she is a mom, it's her job"; this is where I disagree. Yes, she is a mom but no she did not have to do anything that she did for us. My mother started a volleyball team when my school did not have one, she was the bus driver bringing us to our games. She drove me many miles to sit and watch me lose set after set in volleyball. She drove to New York for a weekend to watch me for 2.5 seconds as I sped by her at a regatta. She has watched me lose my friends and gain new ones that care so deeply for me which I could not imagine my life without them. No she did not have to do any of these things so when we say it's what a mom is suppose to do, it's not true. A mom is someone who puts her needs aside and puts her children first no matter how annoying they get. It is truly amazing what moms can do. My mom will do anything to make sure I am happy. We have our fights and our gossip times, she has made me cry and laugh at the same time. Moral of the story is this, my mom is the superwoman in my life and I wouldn't want it to be any other way. She is my rock and always knows how to put a smile back on my face. She is silly and fun and loves her cooking show (sometimes more than me). I wouldn't trade her in the world for anything, I love you mom and all the things you do for me.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
