Modern American Feminists, Please Sit Down

Dear Feminists,

I get it, but stop. As a woman, I understand that we deserve equal rights; but you're taking this too far. We live so much better than you make us out to. Truly, you're giving women in general a bad name. You're an embarrassment. You make us seem power hungry instead of humble. Can you just chill? Why don't you just take a moment and focus on the women of other countries getting beaten, raped and killed worse than our country could even imagine. Stop being ungrateful.

According to the Washington Post, 43 percent of the women in 2015 said they are feminist. That's 29 percent more than women in 1995 who considered themselves strong feminists-- 29 percent! It may sound small, but that equals out to 45,530,000 women in America. People, please listen, you need to halt your focus on overused women's issues and focus on things like dying children, the homeless or for goodness' sake anything other than the ignorant thoughts of this overdone movement. Do you really think Elizabeth Cady Stanton or Susan B. Anthony would be proud of what you've done to their hard work? Do you even know who those people are or are you fighting for something with no education of its history? No offense, but I'm guessing its the latter.

The dictionary defines feminism as "the advocacy of women's rights on the grounds of political, social, and economic equality to men". So lets leave it as simple as that.

Politically and economically we're pretty set. We have a woman running for president (whether she is fit or not is completely beside the point) . We have Congresswomen. We have Businesswomen. We have an abundance of powerful ladies to represent us.

Socially, women are no longer just the mans tool. We have jobs. We can be the head of the household. We can vote and go out in public without the escort of a man. We can have an opinion. Down to the whole foundation of being a woman, we have a choice; If we want children we have them, if not - we don't.

The Women's Rights Movement started in 1848 fighting more pressing issues than American women could even have in 2016. I understand the basic rights such as voting and being an independent woman, etc. You ladies have to understand though, the Women's Suffrage movement is not even close to what this generation has formed modern feminism into.

Our ancestors fought for you to even be able to have the right to say that you are a feminist. They fought for freedom and free thought. You new breeds quite frankly shit all over their hard work. You get upset over the fact that men can walk around without shirts on; well if this upsets you so much, move to a nudist colony -- they exist you know. Your boobs are your genitalia; guys don't walk around with their dicks out on a daily, so why are you so upset? Men don't only rape/harass women, women do the same to men. According to a study conducted by Queensland University of Technology and "Professor Sara Charlesworth from RMIT, women were accused of sexually harassing men in 5 percent of cases". These issues go both ways and affect both genders. So please, stop making yourself out to be greater than or more entitled than anyone else. These equal rights are not so equal to the people you are trying to take them from.

Its a simple fact that women can not do everything men can. I'm not saying women are weak, frail, or dependent; I'm simply saying that we were not built the same therefore we are not the same. A man provides for a woman and a woman should provide and honor her man. You people take things out of control for the sake of having something to argue about. Sorry to get biblical, but God made man first and woman out of man as a companion, not the other way around.

In case you aren't aware, There are sexual harassment laws. There are equal pay laws. There are several laws valuing women and their equality. These laws are set in place, sometimes the world doesn't change and people suck but that doesn't mean go out and unearth a movement that has been finished.

You rant about male entitlement; well lets talk about it women, what about your entitlement? You feel you have the right to feel this way when you aren't 1/100th as bad off as women in other countries. Hell, the United States doesn't even make the top 10 list for oppression or income gaps in this world. You complain for nothing. You are greedy, rude, and quite frankly egotistical. I understand things in this country can be bad off and women work hard -but be thankful you can read, because women in Afghanistan can't. Be thankful you weren't married before you turned 18. Be glad that your pay gap is less than 46%; because in Bangladesh, that is the fact. These women don't complain, they do their work and carry on. You are the ones who are falsely entitled. Lets be for real, you're living, you can get a job, you can go to school, etc. You are allowed to speak your mind; even if your opinion is as stupid as supporting feminism in the U.S. If you want to truly make a difference, do it where it matters for the people who can't or don't have the educated mind to. Stop being fools. Stop embarrassing women everywhere. Be grateful for our ancestors and the women who fought for you to have a better life. Start fighting for the women who can't and stop creating a revolution where there is no need for one.

This movement has already been fought and conquered; but in today's age it's just a bunch of disgraceful BS. You have all you need, be thankful instead of the Tantalus this society has taught you to be.

Feminists, I beg you to just close your mouths and open your minds, for a change. You might understand then and be able to truly help.

Sincerely,

An extremely annoyed Anti-Feminist.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
