In today's times, 80s movies are more relevant and popular than ever. Parents are showing their young teens their favorite movies from the 80s and these teens are loving it. ABC family is consistently showing movies like Pretty in Pink, 16 Candles, and The Breakfast Club. There has even been talk about doing a modern remake of the classic The Breakfast Club, although Molly Ringwald pointed out that she wouldn't do it. This movie is a true classic and should not be touched or remade...however, I always wonder about how this movie would look in the 21st century.
Andrew Clark - Zac Efron
Ah, the all around jock who ended up in detention. Seems like our Troy Bolton is making trouble again. The pressures of a basketball scholarship, maintaining good grades, and being popular were starting to get to his head. Andy is smooth both on and off the court, but he can't talk his way out of detention. He knows he needs to get through this day without anyone finding out what he did to get in trouble...
Allison Reynolds - Jennifer Lawrence
Allison is a deep character that is played by none other than J.Law. She has a hidden sadness of being ignored by her parents and she has dreams of running away. She is also a compulsive liar and often steals things from others. There is a deep sadness and quietness to her, which sparks Andy's interests. The other characters in detention are able to bring down Allison's guard as she reveals who she really is.
Claire Standish - Taylor Swift
America's Sweetheart is starring as the popular girl in the new twist of The Breakfast Club. TSwift has everything it takes to be Claire: beauty, brains, and a sense of adventure. She's the perfect all-around good girl who happens to get involved with the bad boys...aka Bender. She will learn more about herself in detention than in the classroom.
John Bender - Dave Franco
Everyone's favorite bad boy is back. Dave Franco is ready to embody the infamous Bender, who is notoriously known for spending his weekends in detention. He's finally let down his guard in front of four strangers who may just become new friends. We can't wait to see his well-known fist pump at the end!
Brian Johnson - Dylan O'Brien
Brian-the-brain just got a whole lot cuter! Dylan O'Brien is hot on the movie and television scene. He plays the sweet, innocent nerd who is just trying to survive high school. He struggles with not wanting to disappoint himself or his parents, who don't seem too pleased to see their son in detention. He'll confide in some of the most unlikely people, but soon will realize that there's more to life than exams and grades.
Richard Vernon - Steve Carrell
The principal that no one ever wants to get stuck with is getting upgraded with a twist. Watch as strict Mr. Vernon finally gains a funny bone, thanks to Mr. Steve Carrell. Get ready for silly antics, clever comebacks, and good slapstick humor.
We can only hope for a remake one day, but for now we can enjoy the original classic. "We're all pretty bizarre. Some of us are just better at hiding it, that's all."
