After the 2016 presidential election, it's safe to say that I cannot stand politics on social media, at all. "One Nation, Under God" is the BIGGEST lie I've ever heard. This nation is split in so many different ways that we're not one, we're divided and Facebook plays a HUGE role in dividing us.
I don't care who you voted for, I don't care what your views are, I don't care who you think is a better fit to lead our country. You want to know why? Because everyone is entitled to their own opinion, and I accept your views so I'm not going to say anything about how your views are wrong because they're YOUR views and you can say literally whatever the hell you want because this is #Murica.
What I do care about though is how people treat one another who disagree with their personal views. "Well you shouldn't get an abortion, that's wrong that's a human life." What's wrong is you budding into their personal business. Is this woman getting an abortion really affecting you that much personally that you need to tell her no, probably not. "You shouldn't have guns, they kill people." You know what else kills people? Let's see.... car crashes, drugs, diseases, knives, you catch my drift. It's called tolerance, which no one in this God forsaken country has. Acceptance, also a character trait a lot of people don't possess here the States.
"You voted for Trump?" "Hillary is a scam!" *goes on 45-minute rant about how your choice is trash, then proceeds to post unintelligent with no facts at all Facebook status.* Yes, you have your freedom of speech, cool everyone does. What you should know is that your freedom of speech doesn't give you the right to bash everyone's views, call them names, tell them they're wrong.
Freedom of speech means you can say whatever you like, but know that you must be tolerant of others who may and definitely will disagree with you. No one is going to have the same views on everything that you do, and that's ok!! America is a huge melting pot, full of different people, different views, different lives. Once we accept that not everyone is going to agree with you and that getting into Facebook fights in the comment section of a CNN video isn't going to get you justice, then we'll be able to live peacefully!
