If heaven wasn't so far away I would go there in a heartbeat just so I could hear your voice again. At the age of nineteen, most people would say they spend a lot of time with their grandpa. Well, both of mine have already gone to heaven.
To this day I wish I would have been closer to both of my grandpas. They say you never realize what you have until you lose it one day and I find that to be very true. I have many things to thank them both for because they helped shaped me into the person I am today.
Thank you for always pushing me to do the best I can in everything I do. I remember you telling me as a child to always give one hundred percent. Whether that be on the softball field or in the classroom. School has always been a priority for me , but I would not be that way if it wasn't for you telling me this almost every day. You were always supporting me and telling me that I will do great things one day. If it wasn't for you I know I would not be standing where I am today.
Thank you for believing in me. Whenever I felt down about something you always knew the right thing to say to cheer me up. It could have been about school, problems at home or just a bad softball game the night before. You always had some words of inspiration to tell me.
Thanks for supporting my ideas of what I want to do for the rest of my life. I am still nineteen , but I have wanted to be a veterinarian forever. You always told me to keep pushing for my dreams and one day I will achieve them. You were also willing to help take care of my dogs anytime I wasn't home too, and I thank you for that.
Thank you for getting me ready for the real world early on. I remember at the age of eleven you taught me how to start mowing the grass and doing other things most adults would do. You taught me how to handle money, balance out a budget if needed and many other things. I didn't see it at the time, but now I am very thankful you did this for me.
Thank you for teaching me how to grow my own garden as well. I remember helping you for hours outside tending your crops in the garden. Some days I hated pulling weeds for you, but the end result was worth all of the hard work we put into them. Now that you're gone, we don't grow as much because, honestly, my life has been very busy lately , but I am still keeping the tradition alive. I hope I start getting some nice ripe tomatoes soon.
Thank you for being more than just my grandpa. You were my best friend, supporter, and partner in crime. I miss you.
