Beyoncé Knowles has been wowing the world with her star presence since she was a young girl. The Destiny's Child star went on tour recently after releasing her sixth studio album "Lemonade."The Houston born native has been drawing in crowds for years and this tour, it's safe to say, was no different. This is not her first rodeo and it shows during every part of her show.
Having the pleasure of attending her concert in Pittsburgh, I have to say that the woman knows how to entertain. After all, that has been what launched her to stardom. There were four key components of this tour that set itself apart for me from others. So, if you didn't happen to go to the concert or just simply weren't convinced that she was the real deal, then let me tell you why they really call her Queen Bey.
1. Her Voice
If you haven't listened to "Lemonade," or any of her previous albums, maybe we should start there. In classic style, Beyoncé uses her voice and passion to convey just about any feeling we've ever had. The most disappointing part of any concert is when the artist doesn't sound like they do on their tracks. When I say she sounds better live than on her albums, I'm not exaggerating. You know when you're listening to someone and they hit a riff so perfectly that you get chills? Well, that was me during the entire concert.
2. Her Costumes
In true Beyoncé fashion, she was dressed to the nines. One word can describe her outfit choices during the concert -- bodysuits. With designs from Gucci, DSquared2, Roberto Cavalli, Givenchy and Balmain among others, she definitely set a precedent. The standouts of the night had to be her Atsuko Kudo red latex bodysuit with matching thigh high boots along with her entirely crystal laid bodysuit.
3. Her Choreography
One thing that surprised me the most about this concert was how well Beyoncé can dance. Many artists gather a lot of background dancers and use them as a sort of distraction so they can let their voices be the highlight of the show. I can honestly say that I was amazed how she never sounded breathless or strained with the amount of dancing she did. She hit every move her dancers did with just as much emphasis and energy while simultaneously hitting every note with ease. Her performance to "Freedom" in the water was hands down one of my favorite parts of the night. If someone knows what magic potion she's taking, then I'd like to buy it in bulk.
4. The Montage
During the concert there was a moment that everything went silent. Following this silence was home footage of Beyoncé during her pregnancy with Blue Ivy. Other images portrayed were Beyoncé and her husband, Jay-Z's wedding and views of Beyoncé with Blue on the beach, amongst many others. What these personal videos allowed the audience to see was that although rumors swirled around the release of the album, she is ultimately in control. Essentially, we see as much as they allow the media and their fans to see. You never really know someone's story unless you hear it straight from them.
The concert was an eye opening experience into just how much it takes to be Beyoncé. That name carries a lot of weight these days and she is living up to the expectations of all her fans. So if you missed the concert, I'm sorry, but if you did go, then you'd know I'm telling the truth. Beyoncé doesn't need anyone to vouch for her because her artistry speaks for itself.
