10 Things That I'll Miss The Most About Miami University After Graduation

I have recently graduated from Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. With the effect of the outbreak switching my graduation into a virtual one and pushing the in-person ceremony until September, i was unable to fully enjoy my last few months on campus. But with graduating, I realized that there are so many things that I will miss about being a student at Miami.

Being a Miami student has honestly been a huge experience for me with starting on a regional campus and then moving to the main Oxford campus. It has given me so many different amazing experiences. I realized that even though I'm happy to graduate, there are so many things that I will truly miss about being a student at Miami. So, here are 10 things that I will miss the most about being a Miami student.

1. Uptown's shops and restaurants

I don't know about you, but the one thing that I always loved about Miami is how diverse it is with the food and shops that are Uptown. There are so many places that you can visit to eat at or simply look around at that it made coming to Miami great. It always seemed like there was one place that I didn't know about or try out yet for restaurants.

2. Eating at Bagel and Deli

Any student at Miami will tell you that one of their favorite places to eat at is Bagel and Deli. They had the best food. You could always grab something to eat in between classes or when you had a break.

3. Walking on campus in the fall

Miami's campus is known for being the most beautiful campus during the fall. There are so many trees on campus that seem to explode into color. You had to take a minute to look around at the campus when walking to class just to appreciate how beautiful the campus really was.

4. Attending class

The biggest thing that I'm going to surprisingly miss is sitting in class taking notes. I'm going to miss having to worry about running to class and walking to my classes. Though I may not miss the homework or the stress that came with testing, I will always miss attending lectures and meeting new people in my classes.

5. Trying to avoid the seal

Miami is notorious for its superstition that you will fail your next exam if you step on the seal. The seal in the middle of the campus, and it's hard to miss. A lot of students don't believe in superstitions but still will avoid the seal just in case. It's crazy to see all of the students on campus moving purposely around the seal and is definitely something I will miss.

6. Attending the Charter Day Ball

I remember the first time I attended the Charter Day Ball. I went with my best friend to the ball, and I had such a fun time. The ball is every three years are students, staff, and alumni are invited to attend. It's so much fun taking your old prom dress that you've only worn once and going to the ball to dance. I had so much fun trying to dance even though I'm not a good dancer.

7. Going to fun eventsĀ

There are so many fun events that I will definitely miss at Miami, like the plays and musicals that they would havei or the occasional events where there would be free food on campus. There were so many events that I will miss so much after graduating.

8. The fall and spring festivals

Miami is known to have amazing fall and spring festivals. There are so many things to check out and they would always have information about clubs at Miami. Since Miami has so many clubs on campus, there were always some that you wouldn't know about before going to the festival. I will definitely miss these festivals the most.

9. Hanging out in Armstrong Student Center

One thing I always loved to do on Miami's campus was hang out in Armstrong with friends or sometimes taking a nap on one of the couches. Armstrong is one of the best places to go on campus to either do homework or hangout after class. It was also the best place to go in between finals to take a quick nap.

10. The Sense Of Pride And Community At Miami

Finally, the one thing that I will miss the most about Miami is the sense of pride and community that the campus always had. At Miami, there is strong feeling of community all around and you always felt a sense of belonging throughout campus.

So although I may be happy to graduate, I'll always miss being a college student at Miami University. There are so many memories that I have of being in Oxford that I will miss so much. If I find myself feeling the stress of having a full-time job, I'll just look back at the memories I had at Miami and cherish them.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
