You've seen them around campus screaming, "Don't be a muggle, come to DM," clothes pinning flyers to your back, and throwing Kind bars at you. Yet you have no clue what they are talking about. These people, my friends, are members of Georgia Tech For The Kids - affectionately FTK.
FTK is an organization that supports Children's Healthcare of Atlanta through fundraising efforts at Georgia Tech each school year. Such events include Movies for Miracles on Tech Green, FTK at Monday Night Brewing, Greek philanthropy events, and many other wonderful events...not to mention the wonderful work of every member of the organization to spend the school year fundraising to meet their own personal goal. For 2015, FTK's goal is to raise $100,000 for a world where "All Better" is a reality for all children and their families! Wanna see a glimpse of what has been done all year? Check it out HERE!!
All of these fundraising efforts end with Dance Marathon on March 7th at noon. So what is Dance Marathon, you might ask?? Well, Dance Marathon (aka DM) is a day spent celebrating the lives of children survivors who were treated by Children's Miracle Network Hospitals, particularly Children's Healthcare of Atlanta. It's a day where Georgia Tech students come to "stand for those who can't," meaning you stand for 9 hours straight because you are blessed with legs to do so and some kids aren't. In addition, you learn a dance through out the day and play games with your friends, the children, and their families. Additionally, we get to listen to the stories personally from each family about their experiences.
HOW COOL!! DM IS ACTION PACKED. On top of that, IT'S HARRY POTTER THEMED THIS YEAR. Dreams come true. I mean, look at the super cute theme reveal video!!
