I can't even begin to put into words how much I love movies that make me think and keep me guessing. I love not being able to guess the next turn, as well as being on the edge of my seat for all of it. A lot of times these movies can be difficult to find, though, so here's a list of 10 movies that will blow your mind by the end of it all, as well as a brief summary below of what each is about. Regardless, I recommend that everyone watches every single movie on this list as soon as they can.
1. Shawshank Redemption
Andy Dufresne is sentenced to two consecutive life terms without the possibility of parole for the murders of his ex-wife and her secret lover. Once he goes to prison at Shawshank, Andy meets Red and many other friends, all of them jokingly claiming to be innocent. Is anyone actually innocent? Are they all doomed to life within the walls? Watch to follow through all the corruption that takes place inside the prison walls of Shawshank. Your mind will be blown when all the pieces start to fit together.
2. Primal Fear
The Catholic Archbishop is found murdered in his home, and a young boy by the name Aaron is the one that the police want to pin it on. However, attorney Martin Vail is fighting vigorously to prove the innocence of his client because he knows for a fact the boy did not commit the crime and the suspect is still on the loose. Will they catch the real killer? Find out.
3. Seven
Many will know this movie by its small clip in the vine where Brad Pitt yells, "What's in the ******* box?!" This movie as a lot more to offer than just this famous scene. Follow Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman as they try to find a killer that is picking his victims based on the seven deadly sins, as well as when they figure out what's in the box.
4. Arlington Road
There is not a single movie ending that has frustrated me more than this one. Michael Faraday is a history professor at a small university who gains some new next-door neighbors. He begins to feel a little suspicious of the new family in town and soon realizes that there are more secrets to the family than he had ever anticipated. Watch to figure out what they could be hiding.
5. The Game
A wealthy investment banker by the name of Nicholas Van Orton receives a very unique gift from his brother on his birthday. The gift is a game that overlaps with his day to day life. Over time, the lines between what's real and what's fake are blurred, causing suspicions of a conspiracy. Watch to figure out the game.
6. The Usual Suspects
The police stumble across an interview a sole survivor of a random boar explosion, a man by the name of Verbal who has been involved in a gang.
7. The Sixth Sense
Malcolm Crowe is a specialized psychologist who begins to help a young boy who can see and talk to the dead. This movie shows their journey together as they try to work through the boy's unique gift.
8. Fight Club
Brad Pitt and Edward Norton star in this fantastic film in which they united to create an underground fight club that turns into something far greater than they originally imagined.
9. Shutter Island
Leonardo DiCaprio stars as an investigator trying to find a convicted murderer after they escape from a hospital for the criminally insane. He retraces his every step until he can come face to face with the murderer. Another great mind-blowing Leonardo DiCaprio movie is Inception if you've got the time to watch it later on.
10. The Devil's Advocate
A Florida lawyer has quite the knack for winning cases, and soon that becomes the most important thing to him over what is right. Finally, he's offered an incredible job in New York for a large firm, becoming the biggest opportunity for advancement in his career, but it comes with a price. Find out what happens to Kevin (Keanu Reeves) as he meets with his new boss, John Milton (Al Pacino).
