Millennials And Dining Out

A million years later, we narrowed it down to three restaurants...

I like food. Face it: you do too. We need it to survive, and we all have our favorites. It's a bonus if you decide to eat out with friends. What fun!

However, despite our advances in technology the worst part about eating food is always one thing:

Deciding what and where to eat.

Here are the typical stages most of us take these days in deciding on how we want to fill our stomachs, granted none of us are too picky.

1. What did we eat last time?

We totally had Mexican food last time, so it seems like maybe Italian is a good choice. But then Margaret over here speaks up about how she had pizza the other night. That's ok, because we can just go to that sushi place at the corner plaza. But then Susan says she literally had sushi for lunch today. And thus the vicious cycle continues.

2. "Let's flip a coin."

This seems pretty simple; we finally have our choices narrowed down unanimously to two restaurants. As much of a miracle even that feat is, we still can't decide on which one we want to go to tonight. Be that as it may, it always ends in one of three different situations:

1. No one in the group has coins to flip. Understandable. We all operate on plastic these days, am I right? Hahaha, oh...

2. Someone has a coin, and we decide on a place like magic!! Less likely, but sometimes still happens. I think the last time this happened for me and my friends was about 90 years ago in a past life of mine.

3. The coin is flipped, but Barbara is allergic to most things at that restaurant. Fair enough, but we reeeaaaally don't want to go the other restaurant. So now we have to decide on some more restaurants.

Great. Still no decision.

Obviously this isn't working, so now let's just...

3. Check Yelp!

At least this way we can see what's nearby, right.

NOPE.

We forgot; we live around here and eat at these basic af places all the time. Why was this even an option? Oh well, because...

4. Everything is now closed.

Everyone took so long deciding that all the restaurants we were deciding on just closed about two minutes ago. Now our only decisions left are either McDonalds or Denny's. *sigh* I'll get the coin to flip...

Hopefully you've been enlightened on the topic if you were not aware of this commonplace feasting ritual us as Generation Z partake in almost every night. Did I miss anything? Post it in the comments!!

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
