It's time to stop the blaming and shaming.

Annoying. Lazy. Entitled. Overly sensitive. Delusional. Stupid. Narcissistic.

The members of the so-called Millennial generation have heard it all, and we’re tired of it.

We’ve been labeled the “selfie” generation and the selfish generation, despite the fact that 70 percent of millennials spent at least an hour volunteering for a cause they cared about, with more than one-third of them volunteering 11 hours or more, as was documented in the Millennial Impact Report conducted by the research group Achieve.

We’re considered dramatic because we no longer laugh at the sexist, homophobic, or racist jokes of the old timers before us. And no, it’s not because we’re “crybabies” - it’s because the jokes aren’t funny.

This is the generation that no longer tolerates hate and ignorance poorly disguised as “comedy.”

We’re deemed as flaming liberals and devout Democrats, despite a multitude of studies that show we are less prone to firmly associate ourselves with a political party than other generations. Our political views are seen as disillusioned pipe dreams, and are staunchly opposed by our older counterparts.

We’re called weak, dependent, and lazy based on beliefs that our parents coddled us growing up. The older generations have concluded that we were spoon fed compliments like organic yogurt. We all received trophies and we were all told how special we are. According to our elders, we’re destroying the economy with our irresponsible lifestyles, flooding the job market, and just all around making a mess of things because we simply weren’t raised right. We are the generation that is “ruining America.”

Now, allow me to clear something up. This is not the generation that caused the crash of the economy and the housing market, the crumbling of the middle class, the wars in the Middle East and across the globe, the corruption in government, or the previously ignored and now unavoidable problem of global warming.

This is the generation that is tasked with fixing the problems the generations before have passed down to us.

This is the generation that has lowered percentages of high school dropouts, teen pregnancy, abortions, nonviolent and violent arrests, and alcohol consumption over the last 20 years, according to data gathered by Vocativ from sources such as the Economic Policy Institute, the U.S. Department of Justice, and the Centers for Disease Control.

This generation is facing more student debt than any generation before, higher rates of unemployment, and a multitude of other problems.

This is the generation that is pushing on anyway.

This is the generation whose members include the youngest-ever Nobel Prize winner Malala Yousafzai (18), Chinese activist Joshua Wong (19), and brilliant young scientists such as Jack Andraka (19) and Taylor Wilson (21).

This generation is developing cures for cancer, creating new ways to power the planet, fighting against oppression, and working toward peace. Millennials are using technology to connect the world and have learned to adapt to an ever changing global market.

This generation is already accomplishing great things.

Looks to me like we really did deserve all those trophies.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
