Miles Don't Mean Anything

You're always in my heart.

Miles Don't Mean Anything
Maddy McQuiston

If you asked me the last time I cried, I would say it was very recent—yesterday, actually. It's finally hitting me that I am going to have to get used to some distance from the person I get the chance to see every day. Don't get me wrong, phone calls and FaceTiming are a fortunate bonus for communicating in this day and age, but it's so different when you're not physically with your favorite person in the whole world. When you can't feel them or their presence life seems...incomplete. You constantly feel as though you are missing a part of you.

I'm going to miss him in all the worst ways. I'm going to miss his big hands around mine. I'm going to miss the way he makes me laugh so hard I can't breathe. I'm going to miss our spontaneous adventures. I'm going to miss him playing with my hair after a long day. I will miss not having someone to share my life with.

I have never felt so emotionally close to someone who makes saying goodbye so hard. I know this is a blessing in disguise, but I can't help feeling sad knowing right now that he will be miles away from me. I know I have to be strong, and I will try my hardest to. I'm not perfect, and I will miss you, and the feeling will consume me. I guess that's not always such a bad thing.

The thing is, this is all just temporary, but right now it's very hard to see that. I think that's okay, though. I'm not ready, but honestly, when will I ever be ready to leave the person I can't get enough of?

We may be in distance but never in heart.

It's going to be hard, but if it's meant to be I know it will be worth it. Miles don't mean anything when he means everything.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
