So, you're probably getting tired of the music that you discovered at the beginning of the summer and all of the hits that they're playing on the radio. This is why I want to share some of my favorite songs that seem fit for summertime with their upbeat vibes and the bright sounds of ukulele, horns and piano. Hope you enjoy this selection of sunny alternative songs, for the middle of your summer!
1. "Sun" by Two Door Cinema Club
Two Door Cinema Club is known for songs like "Undercover Martyn" and "What You Know." This particular song is perfect for summer, with its upbeat horn riffs and catchy melody.
2. "We Don't Believe What's on TV" by Twenty One Pilots
Twenty One Pilots is the next up and coming band on the alternative scene. This track came from their newest album, "Blurryface," and it's driven by fun ukulele accompaniment and quirky lyrics.
3. "California Kids" by Weezer
4. "Santa Fe" by Beirut
5. "It's Gettin' Easy" by Dear and the Headlights
6. "You Don't Know Me" by Ben Folds (featuring Regina Spektor)
7. "Shuffle" by Bombay Bicycle Club
8. "Chartreuse" by Capital Cities
9. "Chicago" by Sufjan Stevens
This artist is both talented and eccentric. "Chicago" is one of his more upbeat songs and it's full of excitement.
10. "We Won't Go Home" by The Colourist
11. "The Day I Lost My Voice (The Suitcase Song)" by Copeland
12. "No Room in Frame" by Death Cab for Cutie
"No Room in Frame" is the first track on "Kintsugi," the album that has the hit song "Black Sun." It's a solid song, reminiscent of Death Cab's older albums.
13. "Blew My Mind" by Dresses
14. "North by North" by Faded Paper Figures
15. "The Truth" by Foster the People
16. "Folding Chair" by Regina Spektor
Regina Spektor's music is quirky, to say the least. "Folding Chair" is oddly enjoyable, though, and it deserves a few listens to be appreciated.
17. "Summer of the Lily Pond" by Hellogoodbye
18. "Schizophrenia" by Jukebox the Ghost
19. "She's a Riot" by The Jungle Giants
20. "Columbus" by -kids-
-kids- is a random artist that I discovered on Spotify one day. Their song "Columbus" is definitely a win.
21. "Am I Wry? No" by Mew
22. "I'll be Alright" by Passion Pit
23. "Summer" by Vinyl Theatre
24. "1997" by Saint Motel
25. "S.O.S. in Bel Air" by Phoenix
26. "Zoom" by Last Dinosaurs
This song is super catchy and definitely one of my favorites. Also, Last Dinosaurs is an Australian band. Can't get much better than that!
27. "The Magic Hour is Now" by Hellogoodbye
28. "It's Alright Now" by Bombay Bicycle Club
29. "Small Talk" by Faded Paper Figures
"North by North," mentioned earlier in this list, and "Small Talk" are both great songs. Faded Paper Figures is another random band from a Spotify search, but they have some wonderful sounds in these two tracks.
30. "Puzzle Pieces" by Saint Motel
(Special thanks to Bryce and Neil, themusical pioneers who actually discovered most of these songs).
