Mid- Second Semester Struggle

I didn't think it would be this hard

First semester was definitely tough. The transition to a new school came with new responsibilities and I had to learn from the ground up how I was going to balance my school work and social life. Eventually, I had it all figured out, got used to my classes, and made it through finals week to be rewarded with the month long winter break that everybody needed.

Coming into second semester, I thought that I would have it all figured out. But, I quickly learned that getting used to a new schedule with new classes and professors is not as easy as I thought it would be. The beginning was fine because syllabus week mostly consisted of no work and getting to hang out with the people that you missed but now since it has started to kick in, it is just as hard as I remember first semester being.

I definitely did not mentally prepare for having to spend countless hours in the depths of the library again. Everyone on campus is starting to reach a point where they are simply just exhausted; whether it is from social events, workload, or just sleep deprivation in general, everybody needs a little relief and it just so happens to be the spring break that is right around the corner.

As all of us begin to get equally stressed out and approach the stages of mental breakdowns while making midnight runs to the pod for snacks while you are stuck in ZSR, we need to start to figure it all out again. Spring break is only two weeks away, which everybody knows means at least double the amount of deadlines crammed into a smaller period of time. As that little bit of freedom approaches, and as I sit here procrastinating my fifth hour straight in the library, I do experience a little comfort knowing that everyone feels the same way.

There are tons of unisex names that are popular: Taylor, Alex, Bailey, etc. There are also numerous names that are used for both sexes, but they’re not seen as “unisex” yet. People are slowly becoming accustomed to the dual use of these names, but for the most part, in their minds they associate certain names with certain sexes. And that leaves those of us with these names in many awkward situations.

I'm an anthropology major, and I love every minute of it. I couldn't tell you why, but I guess there's just something about studying different lifestyles that absolutely fascinates me. But anthropology majors definitely have our weird sides, especially when you go to a school that is filled with mostly Business and Bio majors. But us weirdos definitely have a lot in common, specifically these 16 things.

pale girl

Everyone has insecurities, that's just a fact. You didn't ask to be born this way. You didn't ask to inherit the one trait no one else in your family has. And you definitely didn't ask to be this ghostly white. But as soon as you've learned to live with it for a while (less wrinkles later on in life, right? right???) someone has to ruin it for you. They have to flaunt they're perfectly tanned body from Spring Break and hold their sun-kissed skin against yours. But I've had enough... here are the things that perpetually pale individuals are tired of hearing.
