Miami Sig Ep Brothers Keep Traditions Alive

Miami Sig Ep Brothers Keep Traditions Alive

At Miami University, traditions are a huge part of who we are. Legend holds that if you kiss your sweetheart under the Upham arch at midnight, the two of you are destined to marry. Tradition tells us that stepping on the infamous seal will result in failing your next exam. To reverse the curse, you can go to the sundial and rub the turtles' heads for good luck. Nearly everywhere you turn, you can find a spot with a story.

Green Beer Day is one of those traditions that Miami students have grown so fond of. On the Thursday before spring break, students adorn themselves in green attire and head uptown for arguably the most memorable day of the year.

Brothers Rick and Ryland Puzzitiello are doing what they can to keep our Miami traditions going each year. For the last three years, Rick has been designing and selling Green Beer Day shirts with the help of younger brother Ryland. Rick, the design and creative force behind the operation, is a Sig Ep and 2014 graduate of Miami University. Ryland, the marketing and distribution partner, is a sophomore business student and Sig Ep. The two have carried on the Love & Honor tradition by following in the footsteps of their older sister, parents, and grandparents, who all attended Miami as well. The boys' parents and grandparents are also both Miami mergers, another tradition.

When asked what the t-shirt operation is all about, Rick responded "GBD is nothing short of a legendary tradition. Stories have been passed down from my grandparents and parents to me about their days filled with green and debauchery in the 60's and 80's. I had four Green Beer Days I will never forget, and it is our goal to provide you with the highest quality and best/most versatile designs that you can wear more than just once on GBD, so that you can have a physical link to your memories of this magical day."

Furthermore, the brothers have kept the tradition alive by bringing back two of last year's most popular t-shirt designs. They also even have a shirt that reads "tradition never dies". The shirts are printed on Comfort Colors t-shirts, so they will last a lifetime. Years down the road you will be able to remember your time at Miami and the several GBDs you shared with friends. Finding the perfect green shirt is a very important part of celebrating Green Beer Day. Don't miss out.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
