Mexico, The Other Side That Trump Will Never Talk About

I am not here to hate, to talk endlessly about how Donald Trump has made Americans view Mexicans and Hispanics in general as a bunch of rapists and drug-dealers, job stealers, etc. I am not here to expressly disclaim all of those labels, for I am convinced many, if not all of them, have been already.

My job here consists of giving you, the reader, another perspective of Mexico and its people from what I have seen and experienced myself.

I have been to Mexico a couple of times, and I am still planning to go back soon as all I have gotten there is real experiences, knowledge, sincere friendship, and of course, amazing and authentic food.

No, I never encountered a single drug lord, nor I was kidnapped or raped. I was always treated kindly and with much respect, and solemnly swear that I never experienced any incident. From restaurants to nightclubs, the environment was healthy and allowed for me to enjoy the moment without worries.

It certainly is a beautiful country, full of natural wonders and historically rich. The architecture is mind-blowing and behind every wall, there is a story.

I am not Mexican, yet it bothers me to see how one person labels an entire country, how a person that is not even familiar with the culture or the country is teaching others to think like him, to hate without knowing.

Mexicans are just people, humble and hard-working in the majority. Their country, beautiful and vibrant. It is not wise to despise what is not known. To talk, one must have experienced first.

I am of Cuban nationality, and I know how much a label weights. Such is the case of many other nationalities and ethnicities. Such is the case of the Mexican people, for whom I developed nothing other than love and admiration.

My advice is GO! Get the chance to meet such amazing country. There is so much to see and taste. The people will welcome you like family. Go try seeing for yourself instead of listening to a person whose majority of arguments are false or misinformed. That is the only way that your opinion will become valid.

Even if you are not Hispanic, you have a culture of your own. You love your people, respect your race, and defend your country at all costs. Mexicans deserve that as well or at least deserve to show that they are not all criminals. They have historically gone hand to hand with the United States, and just like many other immigrants in this country, they have made a significant contribution to this country's culture. They belong just as much as the rest of us do.

Y Que Viva Mexico!

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Top 10 Reasons My School Rocks!

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
