5 Messy Person's Tips For A Clean Room

Only messy people know the struggle of wanting a clean room, but never being able to actually keep it that way. Soon after cleaning your room, you resume your old, messy ways and you're right back where you started. From one messy person to another, I know the struggle and I'm here to share some of the ways I keep my messy room less chaotic.

1. Keep your clothes off your floor.

It's really tempting to peel off your school or work clothes at the end of the day and just leave them on the floor. But, you have to resist the urge to do that. Once you let yourself leave clothes around, you'll say it's ok the next time you do it and you'll keep telling yourself that you'll pick it up later. We all know that never happens. Your dirty clothes sit there in a pile and start to smell. Don't let that happen. Instead of leaving your clothes on the floor, take the extra two seconds to throw them in your hamper. That way you'll know what's clean and what's not, when to do laundry, and you'll actually be bale to see your floor.

2. Keep a trash can in your room.

Having a trash can handy is always a blessing. Instead of littering your night stand and bedside with cans, bottles, food wrappers, etc., you can easily throw them in the trash can. This keeps all your garbage in one place and makes it easier to take out. You'll save time and effort by consolidating your trash instead of leaving trash everywhere to pick up later. Just remember to actually take out the trash though.

3. Have a few shelves on your wall.

I personally have a lot of decor pieces and I never seem to have anywhere to put them. They just get jumbled on my nightstand and my theme is set off. By mounting a shelf or two on your wall, you have extra space to put items on display without buying any furniture. Shelves are easy to find at your local hardware store and are usually simple to install. Putting in an extra few minutes to create more space will save your room from looking over cluttered.

4. Containers are your friends.

I like all of my items to have a place despite how messy I am. I buy small containers from the dollar store or Walmart to sort out the things I use daily and to store things I don't use as much. I have three different types of containers for my makeup, which I use ever day, and I have other miscellaneous things in a plastic box with a cover to store away. Another tip would be to label you containers to easily identify what's inside of each box. Containers are also good for items that don't necessarily have a place, but you don't want to get rid of.

5. Make your bed.

This probably seems like one of those stupid rules we were told to do as kids, but a nicely made bed can make or break a room. When you look at a bed that someone jut rolled out of, it's not the most appealing thing. But, when a bed is made properly, it ties the room together and puts on the finishing touches. It makes the room appear cleaner and more put together compared to an unmade bed.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
