Mental Health Check-In

I just want to take a moment to reflect on how important it is to take care of your mental health, especially in a year like 2020.

It's no secret that 2020 has been basically a living hell. There's been unfortunate and untimely celebrity deaths, a world wide pandemic, the country is more divided than ever, and that's just to name a few issues. As someone who struggles with mental health this year has been so tough on me! I lost my grandpa to COVID in April. I can't lie: I've been struggling since then, but I'm confident that I'm not alone. I know so many families have been affected by the plethora of issues going on. There is so much negativity on social media along with the constant reminder of just how bad a path this country is going down.

It's scary and it's real life.

I just want to put out there that you are not alone, everyone is hurting. We can get through it together.

It's important to take social media breaks because the information on social media is honestly so overwhelming! Humans aren't meant to receive the amount of stimuli and hold the amount of information on worldly issues that we do in this day and age. No one is designed to hold the amount of pressure to change the world as we are today and sometimes it feels like there's no way to get around that. You can either choose to live in ignorance as they say ignorance is bliss, or chose to ultimately ruin your mental health and become educated on everything going on. I love being educated on what's going on in the world but frankly I often have to take a step back because it's too much for me to handle let alone anyone to handle!

It's hard to remain positive and seek out the good but it's important to do so, fill your time with happiness. Remind yourself how strong you are for making it this far! We can get through everything together.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

The Importance Of Being A Good Person

An open letter to the good-hearted people.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
