To The Gentlemen Who Haven't Let 21st Century 'Dating' Corrupt Them

Props to you for still believing in treating a girl like she's a queen.

Over the past few decades, there have been some major advances in the technology world, including social media advances, highly advanced smartphones with hundreds of different apps. And truly it is amazing everything that has been discovered and created.

But there is an extent to which it's amazing... Unfortunately, with all these advances it has created barriers and changed the way people think in general. Specifically focusing on relationships, the 21st century is the ultimate anti-relationship century.

There have been multiple times when I have talked to my grandparents, both sets have been married over 50 years, and they talked about how they met, their ups and downs, and it just made me realize how much the idea of romance and love has changed.

The fact of the matter is in today's world it is totally normal for somebody to cheat on their partner, sign up for multiple dating apps, Snapchat more than text or even have phone calls. The basics have just been lost.

But it is safe to say there are still men who have not lived in the 21st century.

So I would like to say to those gentlemen, a thank you. Because there are girls out there that don't live in the 21st century either. Thank you for still opening car doors, such a small act, but it is so kind. Thank you for still getting flowers, candy, and leaving love notes for your partner to find.

Thank you for not being scared to show off your girl, to slow dance even if you don't like to dance, for kissing her hand and making her heart melt. Thank you for acting on your promises, and never leaving them as words. Truly you should be so proud of yourself for being different from the 21st-century guys, and for not changing just because everyone else does.

Thank you for proving that love is not in material things, but in the actions you take to impress her, to show her appreciation, and to take care of her. They say that the true power of a man is in the size of the smile of the woman sitting next to him.

Thank you for believing in love, and not being scared to love, because too many guys think it's a form of weakness now, but it's one of the things that makes a true man, a man. You are the guys that others hear about and hope to find someone just like you. You keep the meaning of love alive, and for that, you deserve to be recognized.

My grandmother tells me memories of the times when my grandfather would take her dancing and then to get milkshakes, or when he'd turn up the radio and help her make dinner. I just think that is so special and amazing when a man truly makes his woman his best friend. I tip my hat to the guys that keep all the gentlemen traditions alive.

Any other guy that tries to make you feel less worthy or manly because of your manners and chivalry, my advice is to turn and look at them and laugh, because in a world full of trends just remember you are a timeless classic.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
