Feminism, at its core, its definition, it's purpose, is the idea of men and women being treated equally. Why anyone wouldn't want this, is a question they must ask themselves. It's a question that when answered, would tell a lot about a person, their values, their upbringing. Whether it's a close-minded view of the world, immaturity, or just genuine belief that one sex is more superior... Being against feminism and what it stands for is something just so rooted in a dark place, it should be acknowledged.
So You may be wondering... Feminism is all about women though? right?
WRONG
Men need it just as much. Women's rights are what are in the spotlight due to how obvious of an oppression it is, from the wage gap to workplace disadvantages and deep rooted sexism.. It is something that is been going on for a very long time, and in 2017, and all the years before that, it's been going on for too long.
Men face sexual discrimination in a different way, one widely regarded as being based in their emotions. Men are typically described as "strong, protective, supportive, sturdy" while women are "emotional, moody, irrational" when in reality, everyone.. We're just humans.
Men cry. Men feel insecure. Men suffer from illnesses like depression, anxiety, eating disorders. Feminism is for men too. It for the equality of the sexes. It's for the little boy who hit his knee on the playground and doesn't want to hear "Man up. Don't cry like a girl." It's for the little girl who threw a football in the most perfect spiral only to hear "Stop playing sports, you're good for a girl but you're going to get too muscular."
It's for everyone who wants to stop caring about what's in their pants and move on with life. To be able to cry and complain and talk about emotions and love. To find a passion for science, engineering, dance, art, music, sports, computers, video games.
That list of passions.
Can both sexes do them? And kick ass?
