Have you ever had that moment when you feel proud and gratified to be from your country and a part of your nation?
Me too!
Yet I can’t quite figure out if this is one of those times…
I just discovered a new Australian artist.
His name is Tim Patch. However, he is commonly known by his professional stage name Pricasso.
And you know what makes Pricasso so unique? He carries around his paintbrush wherever he goes! Literally. ‘How?’ you may ask. Well, because his paintbrush is his penis. Yep, he paints using his ‘prick.’ Hence the name.
Oh, and I almost forgot, he also uses his scrotum and buttocks. Talk about multi-talented!
Patch paints a whole range of things, but mainly portraits, landscapes and female nudes. And honestly, some of his works are pretty good.
Patch says he first conceived the idea of painting with his penis in 2005. He was inspired after watching the performance show Puppetry of the Penis. Naturally, he went on to draw a smiley face in the back of a urinal with his penis before deciding to attempt it at home using paint. And the rest is history.
His paintings sell anywhere between $299 to $1000. Oh, and the buyers also receive a DVD of the entire painting process, just to prove he didn’t use a paintbrush (and to show all your friends when they compliment you on your new masterpiece).
Don't worry, you can look. I covered his bits with a paintbrush
He also has all bases covered: he makes his own water-based paints so they don’t erode his skin, and covers his ‘areas’ in Vaseline in order to work for several hours without causing skin irritation. Good thinking, Pricasso. I can only assume this is what they meant by the phrase "art is pain."
Surprisingly, the controversial nature of his technique has caused a few stirs among the art world, with not everyone being quite so impressed.
I, however, would coin his method as abstract.
