Friendship means caring.

Friendship means thinking of them before you. It means reaching out when a friend is having a hard time. It means not forgetting anything—feelings, interests, quirks, birthdays. It means sending a text to show you're thinking of them, even if you don't expect a reply.

Friendship means realizing that another person plays a big role in your life. It means seeing their face brightens your day. It means appreciating their laugh because it wipes away your sadness. It means finding time to video chat when you're too far away to meet in person. It means picking up where you left off, no matter how many days, months, or years it's been.

Friendship means having someone to rely on. It means having a person who will tell you the brutal truth, whether it's a compliment or an insult. It means that you have someone who can rely on you for every secret and indecision. It means you have someone to send corny jokes or pretty pictures because you know they'll appreciate them.

Friendship means having someone to laugh at you when you fall down but to help you up regardless. It means knowing there's always a person to hug and a person to appreciate your weird eccentricities. It means having a person who complements your personality and helps you stay true to yourself. It means having a person who knows who you are, even if you're still trying to figure that out.

Friendship means love.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
