10 Pictures That Capture The True Meaning Of Kesem Magic

In This Article:

While no picture can truly capture the emotions and excitement of a moment, some of these photos really come close. Hundreds of pictures are taken each week at camp, but the 10 below are some of those that captured the most meaningful and memorable moments from CKKU 2018.

1. Pre-meal circle

Camp Kesem KU

With camp songs to be sung, announcements to be made, and friends to greet, pre-meal circles are a fun time to come together as a whole camp before heading in to eat!

2. Camp songs

Camp Kesem KU

Seeing a group of nearly 100 people jumping around and singing about sharks, Pepe, "Getting Loose," and burritos is quite a site to see, but the next best thing so being there, is capturing the moment in a picture.

3. CKKU staff

Camp Kesem KU

The energy contained in the group of Kesem Counselors is simply indescribable. Just moments before campers arrive, counselors prepare for a truly life changing week.

4. Hungry hungry hippos

Camp Kesem KU

Because a real live version is clearly better than a board game!

5. Cancer sucks

Camp Kesem KU

There are simply no better words, "Cancer Sucks." While we cannot take the pain away, camp gives kids the chance to have a week away to relax, have fun, be a kid, and feel the support of Kesem Family.

6. Dance party

Camp Kesem KU

After an emotional day, there is no better way to lift your spirits than with a dance party!

7. Messy Olympics

Camp Kesem KU

A popular favorite among campers, this is a time to just let loose and be a kid. Nothing says "childhood" like paint, shaving cream, and of course, GLITTER!

8. Closing circle

Camp Kesem KU

Perhaps one of the most meaningful times at Camp is the moments just before we all head off to bedtime. A time to reflect on the day and come together as one camp.

9. Final goodbyes

Camp Kesem KU

A picture simply cannot capture the emotions held with these goodbyes that really aren't "goodbyes" but rather a "see you later."

10. Just walk beside me

Camp Kesem KU

The one picture that really says it all: Don't walk in front of me I may not follow, don't walk behind me I may not lead. Just walk beside me and be my friend.

As an English Major in college, I have a lot of writing and especially creative writing pieces that I work on throughout the semester and sometimes, I'll find it hard to get the motivation to type a few pages and the thought process that goes behind it. These are eleven thoughts that I have as a writer while writing my stories.

Every college student knows and understands the struggle of forcing themselves to continue to care about school. Between the piles of homework, the hours of studying and the painfully long lectures, the desire to dropout is something that is constantly weighing on each and every one of us, but the glimmer of hope at the end of the tunnel helps to keep us motivated. While we are somehow managing to stay enrolled and (semi) alert, that does not mean that our inner-demons aren't telling us otherwise, and who is better to explain inner-demons than the beloved April Ludgate herself? Because of her dark-spirit and lack of filter, April has successfully been able to describe the emotional roller-coaster that is college on at least 13 different occasions and here they are.

For many undergraduates across the nation, the home stretch has begun. Only one more semester remains in our undergraduate career. Oh, the places we will go! For the majority of college seniors, this is simultaneously the best and worst year out of the past four and here’s why.

1. The classes you are taking are actually difficult.

A schedule full of easy pottery throwing and film courses is merely a myth on the average campus. With all of those prerequisites for the upper-level courses and the never-ending battle you fight each year during registration for limited class seats, senior year brings with it the ability to register for the final courses you need to fulfill your major. Yet, these are not the easy entry level courses. These are the comprehensive, end of major, capstone courses designed to apply the knowledge from all your previous courses, usually in the form of an extensive research paper or engaged learning project. The upside is you actually probably really enjoy these classes but alas there is no room for slackers here.
