The Artistic World I Surround Myself With

Dancing, singing, art, and music are big things that have always been part of my life and have helped me develop into the person I am today. I had always been into the arts for as long as I can remember. When I was two years old, I started getting into drawing and I remember that my first drawing was of my father and me. I had drawn it for my dad as a present for Father's Day, and if you were to look at the picture, the drawing of me doesn't exactly look too much like me (because I always had a hard time drawing myself), but if you look at the drawing of my dad, the image actually does resemble him.

Even from a young age I was using art as a way of expression. I would take an image and draw it the way I saw it. What's funny is that I not only do that with drawing, but I honestly do that with everything and everyone around. I've always thought that I have a different way of seeing things.

Another thing that started for me at the age of two was singing. My mom has always told me that at that age whenever my grandma would call the house I would sing to her over the phone in an opera voice and she would back to me with her musically talented voice. Now granted I don't sing opera anymore; I'm more into the type of music you hear on the radio, but I don't think there will ever be a moment in my life when I'm not singing. When I'm singing a song, especially one that has meaning to it, I always making sure that I fully feel that story that is being told through its lyrics.

The arts in general have huge importance to me. I don't know what I would do if I didn't have music, dancing, singing, and art. I have to thank my family for surrounding me with the arts, and I hope do the same for my kids one day in the future.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
