Marylou's Coffee

The best coffee in town!

Marylou's Coffee
Lauren Murray

In 1986, Marylou Sandry opened up the first Marylou's Coffee in Hanover, Massachusetts. After 30 years the first Marylou's location is now one of many cafés -- 28 in Massachusetts and even eight locations expanding into Rhode Island. I am lucky to say I have worked for the company for two and a half years now, and the Hanover location has been totally redone. The chain is growing just as much as our love for the Funky Fanabla. You are beyond lucky if a Marylou's Coffee is in your area since I have missed my favorite coffee deeply. I can not only wait to have a large Cinnamon Hazelnut Fluff with mocha when I return but coming back to work with the best co-workers as well!

Marylou's is an absolute addiction, it is a coffee shop for all ages. Ranging from cotton candy kidz creamz, small coffee black with a flat lid, and the Girl Scout Cookie with whip cream on top. If you like coffee or any sort of beverage, you can find it here. Not only that but pastries and breakfast sandwiches galore. The coffees range from plain flavors, specialties, extra specialties and everything else in between. One of my favorites is the iced blue raspberry Red Bull, tastes like summer and gets you just as wired for the day as coffee. Not only that but a one coffee combo sadly taken off the menu, a Blueberry Cooler, is also a personal favorite of mine.

Marylou's has character, it was built in a vintage home and once newspaper store, and it began such a huge success over the last 30 years. Thousands of people have worked for the company and I am so happy to say I am one of them. The atmosphere, daily customers and the people I work with make it the best job ever. My friends do not understand why I enjoy coming into work at 5:15 a.m. to open up, and all I can say is "Well, I love my job." I am so excited to work in a beautiful new store this summer, it may be crazy, but it is so worth it. Also, shout out to the best manager ever Janelle King, who everyone can agree puts a smile on their face - and who can forget about Mal? My favorites.

These coffees taste like no other, our beans are flavored and smell delicious the second you put them in the grinder. I did not even like coffee before I started working here -- so as I said before, Marylou's is for everyone. Not to mention totally worth your buck, especially with our signature Big Louie that is a crowd favorite -- extra large size coffee for a great price.

If you have never tried a Marylou's Coffee, I am sending you on a mission to go and find the closest location. If you live in the South Shore, you should have one at every corner and do not take that for granted. If you see this Marylou, please expand out into Worcester, it is a big college town, with a lot of kids missing your specialty coffee. Live. Love. Marylou's.

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

19 Lessons I'll Never Forget from Growing Up In a Small Town

There have been many lessons learned.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
