If you grew up in the '90s or '00s, you knew there were no better role models in your childhood than Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen. They lived your ultimate dream life: Romance, adventure, and a sister as your best friend was more than you could ever wish for. We should truly be grateful to have been able to grow up with them to guide us in the dark ages of puberty.
You learned a ton about the fashion world. Don't be afraid to be fashion-forward and embrace your own unique style. Camo pants and colored sunglasses are totally acceptable.
When it came to guys, they just understood.
And gave us highly realistic expectations of falling in mutual love with boys we meet in foreign countries.
Honestly, who could forget Michel? *sigh* What a classy man.
...Because we all traveled the world as carefree and spontaneously as they did.
And you couldn't help but be almost jealous of them because you had to stay in school while they had cool adventures without you. True FOMO.
Their book series instilled in you a love for fine literature.
One of the classics.
You never understood how they got to do all the cool things they did as minors, but you never questioned it.
Like my parents would have ever let 16-year-old me drive my friends to go to the Olympics alone WITH BOYS.
And we always learned important cultural lessons from their movies.
(You also knew that "Winning London" was the best movie because of London and British boys and that scene at the Peter Pan statue.)
So, I just want to say thank you, Mary-Kate and Ashley, for always doing something cool with your life so I could have a great childhood.
