I Ranked The Marvel Cinematic Universe So You Don't Have To

Did you know that there are already 14 movies the Marvel Cinematic Universe?! 13 of those movies I have now seen. My boyfriend, Zach, and I have spent the last few weeks watching all the movies. The only one we weren't able to watch was "Dr. Strange" since it is not available to watch at home yet. We (we?) wanted to be ready for the three Marvel movies slated to come out in 2017: Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2, Spider-Man: Homecoming, and Thor: Ragnarok.

So here are my thoughts right after we watched each movie. They are listed from my least to most favorite in the MCU. Spoilers ahead!

13. The Incredible Hulk

This movie was complete garbage (said in Daisy Ridley's voice). I think I somehow already knew this, which is why I hadn't seen this movie before now. I LOVE Edward Norton, but ughhhhh this movie was just so bad. There was hardly any story and the story that was there was told through one-sentence dialogue. Plus the CGI was terrible. 2/10

12. Ant-Man

This movie was okay, but I felt like there wasn't a lot of story. It was definitely the funniest out of all of them. And Paul Rudd is usually a win. Oh and Evangeline Lilly, my heart. Peter Russo was also a good villain. But again: good guy has a thing that bad guy wants; bad guy makes a bad version of good guy's thing. I want something new! 6/10

11. Avengers: Age of Ultron

I didn't know what to expect in this movie because I don't really remember seeing any trailers for it. Tony Stark tries to make a dude to keep the Avengers in check, but of course, it backfires. This dude, Ultron, ends up being crazy and the Avengers get stuck cleaning up after Tony. Ultron gets right eventually, but not until after they remove a city from the earth? Yeah, that was weird and unrealistic. 7/10

10. Iron Man 3

Again, I think I saw this one before because it seemed familiar but I didn't really remember it. It was good! I liked seeing Iron Man deal with what happened in "The Avengers." I also liked the villain in this one since it wasn't a guy in a homemade Iron Man suit. I do feel like some of sciencey stuff and weapons are a little far-fetched. But hey, it's a movie based on comic books so I guess it's okay. 7/10

9. Iron Man 2

I didn't really remember this movie, but it started to seem familiar as it went along. I liked the first Iron Man better, but this one was just fine. One thing that has been consistent throughout these movies, though: good guy has a thing that bad guy wants; bad guy makes a bad version of good guy's thing. I'm kinda over that story at this point. 7/10

8. Thor: The Dark World

I remembered seeing this one once we started watching it. It was a good sequel to the first Thor film. Even though I'm into them as a couple, Thor and Jane's relationship just seems so shallow and unrealistic. I kinda feel like their love story is just there to get a female viewership (that and all Chris Hemsworth's shirtless scenes; I'm not complaining). But I liked the change in Thor's attitude. He's not so war-hungry and is more caring. 7/10

7. Captain America: Civil War

This felt more like an Avengers movie than a Captain America one since most of the Avengers were in this film. It was pretty good. A lot of dynamics are happening around the Avengers to cause them to bicker and have different opinions. There are some new additions to the team: Black Panther and Spider-Man (who will both have their own films btw). I am sure we will see Bucky come out of hibernation again in a future film as well. 8/10

6. Thor

This was my first time seeing this movie. Overall I thought it was pretty good! I mean, it's Chris Hemsworth, so what's not to like? I did think Thor's "relationship" with Jane (Natalie Portman) was a bit unrealistic. They only spent what, less than a day together? But I think this story will play a larger role in the other films. 8/10

5. Iron Man

I had already seen this movie a few times, but I didn't remember it super well. I really liked it! The story was developed and extravagant which made it feel like it came from a comic book (plus the character's names helped with that). Tony Stark (Robert Downey Jr.) went through an internal character change that I felt was believable. 8/10

4. Captain America: Winter Soldier

The Captain America storyline is still really strong and developed. I remembered parts of this movie as we watched it, like I knew that Winter Soldier was Bucky so that wasn't a surprise for me. I really liked that it had elements of Captian America's past. It gave him motivation and weirdly, some familiarity. And Agent Carter! I love her. 8.5/10

3. The Avengers

I saw this movie in theaters before I saw any of the other movies. Now that I have seen them all in order, watching this one again made a lot more sense. Not that you need to see the other ones to understand this one, but you can see how they are all related and connected. This movie was way more action packed than the other ones have been, but the story was still there. I liked the interaction between all the Avengers. But lemme just get this out there. If Thor's daddy could just muster up a ton of power to send Thor to Earth to get Loki, why couldn't he do this so Thor could see Jane?! Like, c'mon bro. You said you'd come back for her?! Ugh whatever. 8.5/10

2. Captain America: The First Avenger

This has been the best movie so far! I had never seen this one and I don't know why I waited so long to watch it. The story was well thought out and I grew attached to the characters. The one thing I HATED though was the way Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) looked before he became Captain America. He has a giant Chris Evans head on a teeny little CGI body. It looked unnatural and I didn't like it. 9/10

1. Guardians of Galaxy

This is the best movie out of all of these! So so good. I've seen this film three or four times now and it doesn't get old or boring. Chris Pratt is amazing. And the humor throughout the movie is just enough. This is the first movie in this universe that isn't as related to the others. The Collector was in the post-credit scene of "Thor: The Dark World," and we've seen Thanos in one as well. So I am curious to see how this story will fit into the overall story. The only thing I hate about "Guardians" is Nebula. She's so annoying and over-acted and the reason it doesn't get a 10 from me. 9.5/10

For as long as I can remember, I have been listening to The Beatles. Every year, my mom would appropriately blast “Birthday” on anyone’s birthday. I knew all of the words to “Back In The U.S.S.R” by the time I was 5 (Even though I had no idea what or where the U.S.S.R was). I grew up with John, Paul, George, and Ringo instead Justin, JC, Joey, Chris and Lance (I had to google N*SYNC to remember their names). The highlight of my short life was Paul McCartney in concert twice. I’m not someone to “fangirl” but those days I fangirled hard. The music of The Beatles has gotten me through everything. Their songs have brought me more joy, peace, and comfort. I can listen to them in any situation and find what I need. Here are the best lyrics from The Beatles for every and any occasion.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.
