This coming Friday marks the beginning of a new era of politics for the United States of America, a new president who has insulted, reprimanded, and humiliated those whom he considers below himself, threatening their right to live, to love, to exist. Though the loss is great, our duty now as American people is to not let it by without a fight, for we must remember,
"He who passively accepts evil is as much involved in it as he who helps to perpetuate it. He who accepts evil without protesting against it is really cooperating with it." --Martin Luther King
So we marched on Saturday, January 14 because we are all people, because we are all still fighting for unity, for understanding and equality and quite simply, kindness. We marched peacefully but we marched with a united voice, one that rang through the streets of Richmond, one that ultimately sang so loud it made a difference. United we stand, and the next four years shouldn't expect anything different.
