6:30 a.m. Your phone alarm is screaming at you to get out of bed, but the last thing you want to do is step into the cold, stressful day ahead. Your mantra: "There are so many beautiful reasons to be happy." Cheesy? Yes, but it's true. So, pick a reason and get your day started.
9:00 a.m. You're in the midst of your 8am and your professor is being real difficult. The essay you thought you aced didn't go well because the prof, "just didn't agree with what you were arguing." Your mantra: "Be thankful for all the difficult people in your life and learn from them. They have shown you exactly who you do not want to be."
1:00 p.m. Classes are over for the day, but now the real work starts. You have more tests, papers, and presentations than you can count. Why does it seem like professors schedule everything for the same time? Your mantra: "You are exactly where you are supposed to be." Everything feels overwhelming now, but get through this and it will all have been worth it.
4:00 p.m. Stress. The only thing you can think of is how much you have to do, which really doesn't help you get any of that done. You're beating yourself up for not using your free time yesterday a little more wisely or for eating a few more cookies at lunch than you probably should have. Your mantra: "Be gentle with yourself. You're doing the best you can."
6:00 p.m. Finally, you have time to go to the gym or go for a run. But, every part of you just wants to lay down and not do anything for a while. Your mantra: "You can do hard things." Even if that hard thing is a short run, you're capable and you'll feel better knowing you did it.
11:00 p.m. The day is finally winding down and as you reflect on it, you're a little disappointed. You didn't get as much done as you needed to and you complained more than you would have liked to in hindsight. Your mantra: "Life offers you a second chance in the form of tomorrow." Give yourself a break and try again tomorrow. Things always look a little better in the light of a new day.
