Makeup is really a girl’s best friend these days, not freaking diamonds. I want to be proposed to with a Naked eyeshadow palette, and a spanking new set of brushes… Alright, I do love jewelry so just buy me all three actually. Summer is the only time I can splurge on makeup because it’s the only time I can afford to (Thanks College). Therefore, I’ve been trying out different products that I’ve heard hype about over social media. I will admit that some days I just want to wear a fully-done face of makeup because on the days that I work, I wear no makeup (I’m a nanny, I don’t need to impress the children I care for). It’s still summer though, so heavy makeup isn’t for every single day, especially the humid ones. However I do my face, there are some products that I just don’t go without using! Here are my current favorites that you must try!
1. Clinique Moisturizing Lotion
I used to use a liquid (watery-type) moisturizer by Clinique, until I noticed how badly it was drying out my face. I switched over to this lotion, which comes in a squeeze bottle in 2 different sizes. I buy the smaller one just because it goes a long way, and it only costs $15. I put this one directly after getting out of the shower. I let it settle into my face before applying any makeup on top.
2. Mario Badescu Facial Spray (With Aloe, Herbs and Rosewater)
So I went into Ulta the other day, because I literally never shop in there and wanted to compare their prices to Sephora. I hear about rosewater all of the time and how great it’s supposed to be for your face, so I asked a consultant to point me towards any kind they had. This is the brand she recommended, I’ve owned it for only a few days now and it has changed my face, let me tell you. It gives such a refreshing feeling, and you can literally spray it anywhere, even in your hair! I use this 2 times a day, once after moisturizing, and another time before I go to bed. I bought the smaller bottle, just because I wasn’t sure if I would like it, and it was only $5. Since I love it I will be going back to purchase the full-sized bottle for only $14!
3. Chapstick Total Hydration 3 in 1 lipcare
I actually stumbled across this chapstick in Five Below, and had never seen it before. I was drawn to it because of how large it was in comparison to the chapsticks I’ve owned, all others being super skinny. The name does not lie, it is so hydrating for your lips, and it is great to put on right before getting into a pool. If you’re going to be out in the sun for a long period of time, this is what you want to put on. I paid $3.99 for it!
4. NYX Matte Finish Fini Mat Setting Spray
Before buying this, I was using Elf setting spray, which I THOUGHT was a good setting spray. I noticed that Elf’s was not even working correctly. Setting spray is supposed to hold your makeup in place and prevent your skin from getting super oily throughout the day. When using Elf, I had to use lots of blotting papers to keep my face under control. NYX is legit as matte as it says it is, my face did not get oily once all day, and the first day I used it, it was very hot outside. I paid $7.99 for it!
5. Elf Blemish Control Face Primer
Some Elf products are worth swooning over, they’re really stepping up their game. They have many face primers to choose from depending on what you’re looking for, but I have the green bottle, which is supposed to help with blemish control as well. It’s a crime not to prime ladies, can’t beat it for $6!
6. Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Treatment Concealer
Since I started using concealer, this is the only brand I have ever used. This same tube with a rounded sponge on top and clear cap. I’ve always loved the coverage it provides and it feels very light on the skin which is always a plus. I pay $8.99 for this.
7. Rimmel London Stay Matte Long Lasting Pressed Powder
On days that I don’t want to wear liquid foundation (more often now than ever), I lightly dust this powder over my entire face. Just always be sure to tap the excess off of your brush before rubbing it onto your face, you don’t want makeup dust laying and not being blended in properly. This compact is only $5.49.
8. Maybelline Brow Precise Pencil Crayon
I much more prefer this thin pencil over any dip brow, it doesn’t work well with my oily skin. Since it is thin, it is extremely easy to use. I pay $7.99 for this.
9. Elf Eyebrow Palette
I have also used this product for years. They have also definitely improved the formula in it, and the most recent formula is great. It is two-sided and comes in numerous colors. The left side has a dip brow, and the right side has a powder, which I use to finish off my brows. I believe I only pay $3.00 for this one!
10. L’Oréal Paris Waterproof Voluminous Carbon Black Mascara
After trying this mascara, I’ve never looked back. It comes in at least 10 different shades or more, and is only $7.99.
11. Revolution Strobe Highlighter
I recently bought this for the first time to try it, and it’s gorgeous! It comes in 4 shades, all shades being similar to the Too Faced highlighter collection that came out in the heart shaped compacts being sold for $30 apiece. This highlighter is only $6! FYI: Revolution is Ulta’s brand, I didn’t know it even existed.
12. Biore Charcoal Self Heating One Minute Mask
This isn’t makeup, but it is the best mask to use to clean up after a week’s worth of clogging up your pores. Before spreading the mask, you wet your face and the water will activate the charcoal actually heating up your face, which feels amazing. It says to let set for a minute then rinse, but I let it set for at least 5. You can buy these probably anywhere, they come in a pack of 6 for $7.49!
13. Biore Deep Cleansing Charcoal Pore Strips
Charcoal is seriously the best thing I’ve ever put on my face. These pore strips are incredible and easy to use. The most troubled spot I have with blackheads is my nose, and these suckers rip them all out, the difference is completely noticeable. These also come in a pack of 6 for $7.49!
Of course I have other makeup that I use every day, such as different eyeshadow palettes, eyeliners and lipsticks, but I wanted to list my every-day, do-not-skip items! Hopefully you try these amazing products!
