Recently I have been listening to a lot of Christian music. I have heard people say it really makes a difference with your mood and your outlook on life, and I never believed them. I simply blew it off, thinking, "What difference could Christian music actually make in my life? Seems crazy to me." Boy, was I in for a surprise! I am not really sure how I came to the decision to listen to more Christian music but it has changed my life! I really cannot believe it!
In the past, I have been to concerts and conferences full of Christian artists. Normally, after these, I would listen to some Christian music for a couple of weeks and then go back to listening to whatever was on the radio. While it was nice for a few weeks, but it wasn't a commitment. Then I realized that this music was a way that I could worship and praise God, and it was a game changer.
I started small. I knew I loved TobyMac so I started by listening to more of his music. Then it moved into a mix of a bunch of different artists and then it moved into discovering new artists. It was like an obsession of finding new music. Every now and then, I'll find a song that just hits me, and I'll cry. This is the reason there are no more napkins in my car. Here are some of my current favorites:
1. "Lose My Soul" by TobyMac, Kirk Franklin, Mandisa
2. "I Have This Hope" by Tenth Avenue North
3. "Unfinished" by Mandisa
4. "Hillsong" by Young & Free
5. "The River" by Jordan Feliz
I am amazed at how just listening to more Christian music can really affect your daily life. I've noticed a tremendous change. So, with all this being said, I challenge all of you. Try it for a month and tell me that it doesn't change your outlook on life. Let me know if you try it out and how it has affected you.
