5 Ways To Make Your Study Time Less Stressful

We've all been there. Exams are coming and we feel super stressed about all the studying we'll have to do. No matter what your major or the classes you're taking, exam time is pretty stressful for everyone. Here are five ways to make it a little bit more enjoyable and less crazy. It might sound crazy, but studying doesn't have to be torture. You can make it to the end of this semester!

1. Rent a study room.

If the library at your school offers these, it can be a great place to focus on your work. It takes away the distractions you may have in your dorm or around other people. It's super quiet and a great place to get work done without interruption.

2. Put your phone on Do Not Disturb.

Giphy

I know this is hard for all of us. FOMO (Fear Of Missing Out) is real. However, silencing our notifications for a while can keep us from being distracted and allow us to stay on task. On iPhones, you can even add contacts as your favorites, so that your phone will ring if important people (like your mom or SO) call you.

3. Prepare snacks and water before you start.

Giphy

If you plan to be studying for a while, especially come exam time, you'll probably get hungry. Having snacks and water handy will keep you hydrated and well fed while you study for that biology test. You're also less prone to get distracted by walking somewhere to get food.

4. Use colorful pens or markers.

Giphy

This actually works. If your notes look more appealing, you'll be more enthusiastic about studying them. Color coding can also be a good trick to help you remember things. Start taking your notes in class with colorful pens or markers and you may be even more enthusiastic about taking notes as well.

5. Try listening to spa music.

Giphy

This seriously works for me. You can find spa music playlists on Spotify, put one on shuffle, and have relaxing background music while you study. The music is relaxing, and it also keeps away distractions by not having lyrics.

Now you can go study to some relaxing music, stay well hydrated, and be undisturbed. You're going to rock the end of this semester.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.
