Every year, when the month of May approaches, you can feel the excitement in the air all around you for summer. The weather starts to get warmer, the days get longer and brighter, and people get happier. While I continue to be excited for summer every year, my excitement has changed in a few ways. I am excited that I no longer have homework and don't have to go to class, but I trade those in for going to work and keeping up with my internship responsibilities. If you're anything like me, a college student just trying to get by, summer may not seem like the summer you once knew and loved.
But, have no fear, I am here to tell you how to make summer fun again! There are so many things you can do to spice up your daily routine and make life with countless work hours seem a little more bearable. Most of my favorite things to do are fun, accessible in a lot of places, and affordable! Here are just a few things I do to spice up my summer and have fun in some way every day!
Get some work done at a local coffee shop
Iced vanilla latte with oat milk (thank me later!!!)
I am a coffee fanatic, so when my friends say they have a lot to do or just want to go somewhere new, I always suggest going to the coffee shop. They are great places to relax, sip on some amazing beverages, and spend time with your friends in a fun and different environment!
Take a yoga class
Tonic Yoga Studio in Maumee, Ohio. Namaste!
This is a really good option for people with busy work schedules because most yoga places have classes scheduled for mornings, afternoons, and nights. Most yoga places also offer the first class there for free, so you can try it out to see if you like it before you commit to anything! Yoga is also a great way to de-stress and unwind from your busy day, which is one of the many reasons I love it!
Take a wine and painting class (21 and over)
Bring out your inner artist!
These classes are a good way to get your creative energy flowing while also letting loose a little bit. Taking these classes with a group of your best friends is so fun and can be just what you need for the weekend.
Go outside!
Took a walk in downtown Lexington, KY and it was amazing!
This may be one of the most important things to do to make sure your summer is a good one! Any chance you get, step outside, breathe in the fresh air, go for a run at a nearby park, have a relaxing night by a fire, catch some rays and read a book by the pool; whatever way you do it, be sure to get outside as much as you can!
Now that I've told you my favorite ways to unwind and have a great summer outside of work, I hope you'll find some of these ideas fun in your lives as well!
