Ways to Make Money In College If Your A Struggling Student

So if you're in college like me, chances are that you're pretty broke. While I try to stay financially secure, the coffee dates with friends, buying textbooks, and unexpected food runs make the number in my bank account dwindle down. Besides needing to take a financial literacy class, here are some ways you can make money in college.

1. Become A Tutor

Becoming a tutor is the best job since you're able to teach someone a subject while also being able to revise it yourself. Tutoring won't take up that much of your schedule, since the sessions usually last between 45 min to 1 hr. The pay varies between colleges, with an average of $9/hr. So if you're tutoring 4 hours each week, that's still an extra $36.

2. Be A Brand Ambassador

So maybe you don't want to tutor, but you could become a brand ambassador. Many companies often recruit college students to promote their brand on campus. It's a fun way for outgoing students to make some bank during the school year. It also looks great on your resume to say that you worked with a large brand. The pay for this job varies between companies.

3. Apply to Be A Resident Advisor

As an RA, you'll provide emotional support and leadership to your peers. Your job includes speaking with other peers about their life. You also plan events for your dorm hall so that everyone can attend. The average pay for an RA is $10.26/hr plus, in most colleges RA's get free on-campus housing.

4. Become A Note Taker

At NC State, the disability office is always in need of students to be note takers. This job is basically something you do already for all your other classes. You sit in the class your assigned to and take notes for another student. The only job requirement is that you can take good notes that are legible and easy to understand by everyone. On average, you can expect to earn $25-$50 per credit hour for each class you're approved for taking notes

5. Become A Research Participant

Colleges are always conducting research and need participants. If you're interested in seeing what you're college may be discovering and want to be a part of it, then becoming a research participant will help with that and making some cash. Depending on the research, you may just have to answer a quiz or do some physical activity. As a participant, you are compensated for your time and get paid on average $25-50 per study.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
