I've Had A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, But I KNOW I Will Make It To Tomorrow

I'm not going to let one bad day determine my outlook of the future.

I've Had A Terrible, Horrible, No Good, Very Bad Day, But I KNOW I Will Make It To Tomorrow
Bailey Drake

I'm sure you've had at least several days when everything just seems to go wrong no matter how hard you try. Maybe you got into a fight with your roommate, you were late for all your classes, or you just found yourself in a bad mood. Whatever it is, I can bet that it's really hard to look forward to tomorrow after a day like that. You just find yourself feeling as though the bad day will continue forever. I know I feel that way sometimes. It's not a feeling of complete and total despair, it's just a question that hangs over your head: "Does this get better tomorrow?" Sometimes it's hard to think that tomorrow will be better, and you just want to wallow in your bad feelings.

That's definitely okay to do for a little while. Have yourself a good cry, eat a tub of ice cream, and watch a cheesy movie. But after you've processed through your sadness and dealt with it, please do not let it destroy your hope for a better tomorrow.

Remember that one bad day in a whole series of days does not define who you are.

Every day is a new opportunity to start over and have a new beginning. Just because you overslept and missed your exam one day doesn't mean the same thing will happen the next day. Life is a whole series of lessons that we should all hope to learn from. These lessons hurt more often than not, but they're so unbelievably important. It may be really hard to hear this, but sometimes there's just no way you'll learn to be a better person until problems come your way.

But doesn't that make the idea of tomorrow so much better?

I can always rest in the confidence that God gives me a new chance to be a better person every day. With Him, I know that His mercy restores everything every day! His love is strong enough to wash away every stain which the previous day left behind, no matter how bad it was. With that assurance, it makes it so much easier to look at bad days through a rearview window.

Everything will work out in the end, just as it should in God's plan.

Anything that happens in your life, even on the days that feel so terrible you want to move to Australia, is going to prepare you for the next big life experience that God has planned for you. Some days are definitely going to feel worse than others, but don't ever forget that He is always in control, and He loves you so very much. Nothing that happens, even on the worst day, could ever change that.

You are not defined by the bad things that happen to you, but by God's love for you. Please take this assurance with you and hold it in your heart. No matter how many bad things happen to you, God will always be there for you, and He will help carry you through to tomorrow.

Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.

Why I Chose a Small School Over a Big University.

I was asked so many times why I wanted to go to a small school when a big university is so much better. Don't get me wrong, I'm sure a big university is great but I absolutely love going to a small school. I know that I miss out on big sporting events and having people actually know where it is. I can't even count how many times I've been asked where it is and I know they won't know so I just say "somewhere in the middle of Wisconsin." But, I get to know most people at my school and I know my professors very well. Not to mention, being able to walk to the other side of campus in 5 minutes at a casual walking pace. I am so happy I made the decision to go to school where I did. I love my school and these are just a few reasons why.
