Being a science (biology, chemistry, physics, geology, etc.) major takes hard work, dedication, and a few laughs to keep yourself from crying. As science majors, we are always taking a critical look at the world around us. Here are some things that only science majors know and are familiar with that leave you saying, "You might be a science major if...":
1. You know that AUG is not only an abbreviation for the month of August, but also the start codon on an mRNA that codes for the amino acid Methionine.
As a science major, you will have to learn about start codons time and time again! Become familiar with them. You'll be glad you did.
2. You have made a few really bad jokes about protons, neutrons, or electrons...
Let's admit it. We all make horrible science puns... but only periodically. Hahaha, punny!
3. You really never fully know what the teacher wants or expects from you in your lab reports.
When it comes to writing lab reports we all struggle! Every teacher wants their lab reports done differently leaving students stressed out and confused. Take comfort in knowing that you are not the only one struggling to write your lab report!
4. "Tears" is an acceptable answer when someone asks you what you got on your Organic Chemistry final.
Conquering a semester of Organic Chemistry is no easy feat. There will be tears, reevaluation of life, and a lot of late night study sessions.
5. When Googling terms to study, the only results are scholarly scientific articles.

6. You look better in a lab coat than the "normal clothes" that you wear to school.

7. You have seen your cheek cells under a microscope multiple times.

8. This is what you think of when you hear "Drop the Base".

9. You will learn about Darwin and his theory of evolution more times than you can count.
Evolution is interesting! As science majors, we can't help but find evolution fascinating. This is a god thing, because it is learned over and over again.
10. Albert Einstein is the coolest person to have ever lived.
Gotta love Einstein! Enough said.
