How To Maintain Your Sanity This Semester

It's only been a week, and I'm stressed.

Well, school is officially back in action for college students around the country and while most of us are excited to take the semester away by storm, we're also stressed about the stress that we know is waiting for us come midterm time. Personally, my goal for this semester is to not let my classes claim all of my energy. And in order to keep that promise to myself, I've decided to do a couple of things.

First off, when it comes to school work I am no longer the procrastination station. I plan on getting all of my work done ahead of time and before the weekend. Just a little think I like to call working hard and playing harder. If I stay focused during the weekday, I get to lay up and watch Netflix documentaries in my pjs all weekend long. Not sure about you, but that's a great deal to me.

Something else I've already decide to put in action is to take moments or breaks to just breathe. I am always putting stress on myself, overworking myself, and eventually ending up in my bed crying over and over again because I'm so stressed. But this semester I'm putting myself first and making sure I'm good before I drive myself insane.

Going to sleep at a reasonable time is also a must. If you go to sleep on time, you're likely to wake up on time and the early bird catches the worm. I'm also predicting going to sleep on time is going to make me a little less grouchy in the morning and a lot more productive, which is definitely what I need.

Lastly, get social! Sometimes I can definitely be an introvert and I like my alone time. However, when trying to stay stress free I think it's safe to say that being social and around other people can really help. So I'm trying to get involved a bit more on campus, or even just making time to hang out with my roommates more. I could be so stressed and they always seem to find a way to make me smile.

Most importantly, going into this semester having a positive attitude is what's going to keep the stress away. If you believe you can, then it must be true, you definitely can!

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
