Some of you may not recognize the name but Caresse Crosby is the woman who invented the modern-day version of a bra.
So basically, her making this makes her seem like a well-kept, proper, modest young woman.
Think not. On her Wikipedia page, Caresse actually invented the bra, originally named the backless brassiere, when her dress with a plunging neckline showed, "boxlike armour of whalebone and pink cordage," instead of an excessive amount of cleavage.
(Meaning: she wanted to wear a practically see-through dress with a very low neckline to a coming-out party. She wanted to have everyone's eyes on her chest. It's not the corset-like contraption covering her, said to be impressive, bust-line).
In the long-run she didn't want to "free boob" it, and I don't blame her either. Again, the dress was said to be sheer. So she sewed two handkerchiefs to a pink ribbon and created the first bra. No, I'm not making up this story and surprisingly, Wikipedia didn't either. I checked the links to be sure. To make it even more impressive, she was only 19 at the time and that's pretty damn cool.
She is, in my opinion, a no "free-boobing" about it Macgyver and that's pretty bad a**.
