Maddie Ziegler's Top 15 Dances

If you know me, you know I LOVE Dance Moms. I have actually made a lot of friends just by discussing Dance Moms. You would also know that I LOVE Sia. If you're not sure, you might be asking... What do Sia and Dance Moms have in common? One is a singer and the other is a TV show... How are they even related?! Well, for your information, Maddie Ziegler is what they have in common. Maddie is a 14 year old dancer who made her debut on Dance Moms in 2011 when she was only 8 years old. Maddie has also starred in 4 of Sia's music videos and went on tour with her last year during her "Nostalgic for the Present Tour" (which was FABULOUS). She has modeled, been in movies, and continues to dance in most things she does. I've watched Maddie since the beginning. Over the years, I have picked multiple dances that I love of Maddie's. I am going to be counting down my top 15 favorite dances. I will begin my countdown with number 15!

15. Be Anything (Season 3.5, Episode 23)

This was not my favorite. In this episode, Abby gave Maddie and Chloe the exact same solo, but they had different names. It was announced that Chloe won and Maddie was really upset about it. After the awards were over, Abby went to the judges and Maddie actually won. Chloe and Maddie had to switch awards.

14. Bond Girl (Season 6, Episode 4)

In this episode, the Abby Lee Dance Company was in LA at their new studio. Maddie had recently booked a photo shoot with Teen Vogue. Kendall and Nia were also apart of this photo shoot. Maddie's solo was very dynamic. Her costume was gorgeous. Maddie won 2nd place with this dance.

13. All God's Creatures (Season 5, Episode 5)

Maddie got 1st Overall with this solo. She also got a perfect score! The team competed in Hollywood on this episode. Abby disappeared, like she did a lot during this season and she was very on edge

12. Reflections (Season 2, Episode 11)

In this solo, Maddie won first place. She got to play Snow White in this solo. In the episode, it focused a lot on Melissa arguing with the mother's over her personal life.

11. Looking For a Place Called Home (Season 2, Episode 17)

Maddie got to play Dorothy in this solo. It was a spin on The Wizard of Oz. She wore powder blue and clicked her heels in the solo. In this episode, she had 2 solos at 2 different competition locations. The same competition had 2 different locations, because it was so big. She won 2 titles in one day! She placed 1st with this solo!

10. Birthday (Season 4, Episode 1)

This was the first episode of the new dance season. Abby told all the girls and the moms that she would be forming a new Junior Elite Competition team. Maddie received a solo at this competition, because she won at National's in Season 3. She placed first with this solo.

9. Happiness (Season 4, Episode 26)

During this episode, Maddie went up against someone who would soon become a rival to the ALDC. Rachel Sage, a singer/songwriter, wrote the song Maddie performed to specifically for Maddie. Her costume was gorgeous. Maddie's solo was absolutely amazing. She won 1st place overall.

8. Chandelier (Sia's Music Video)

This was Maddie's breakout dance. This was her very first music video that she did with Sia. This performance got her recognized by many people. She got to perform on Ellen and perform at the Grammy's with Sia. This shot Maddie straight into the public eye.

7. Telling Myself (Season 2, Episode 26)

Maddie performed this solo for Nationals in Beverley Hills (90210). She competed against Chloe and Justice (boy from Candy Apples). She also performed in the group dance in this episode called The Last Text. Maddie received 2nd overall for this solo. Chloe placed first and got a National title.

6. Lizzie Borden (Season 6, Episode 10)

In this episode, 3 girls had solos about famous murders. Brynn, Maddie, and Kendall all competed against each other. I really liked this solo of Maddie's, because I was truly terrified watching her. You usually don't see Maddie do this type of solo. I liked her costume and the song. Maddie placed 1st overall with this solo.

5. Ballerina (Season 5, Episode 5)

This Maddie solo was very out of the ordinary for her. Chloe used to be the ballerina on the ALDC team, but Maddie decided to go to home schooling and started having ballet private lessons to work on her technique. She won 1st place overall with this gorgeous dance.

4. Cheap Thrills (Sia's Music Video)

This was Maddie's 4th video with Sia. It was for Sia's first single off of her This Is Acting album. Maddie had partners in this song. She danced alongside 2 men. Sia was also in this video. She stood in the back corner and sang the song while the dancers danced around in the front. Sia's face was covered (obviously).

3. Manhattan (Season 1, Episode 11)

Maddie performed this solo on the season finale of the very first season of Dance Moms. The team was at Nationals. Maddie competed against Chloe for the National Title. Maddie won first place overall which gave her a National Title.

2. Fool Me Once (Season 4, Episode 27)

During this episode, Maddie had 2 understudies learning this dance while she learned it. She got a call to perform on a web series and Abby didn't know if she would be at the competition, so she had Chloe and Kendall learn the solo. Maddie ended up being the the competition. She competed against Gino (older boy from Candy Apples). Maddie won 1st place overall.

1. Cry (Season 1, Episode 2 and 4; Season 2, Episode 17)

This is Maddie's most notorious solo. She performed this solo multiple times over the course of Dance Moms. She won 1st place overall every time she performed this solo. Her younger sister, Mackenzie, performed this solo in the same costume in season 4. Mackenzie beat Chloe with this solo.

Honorable Mention:

Every Little Step, Angel, Helen Keller, Come to the Cabaret, Maddie, The Game of Love, and The People's Choice, Elastic Heart, Big Girls Cry, The Greatest

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
