From the start, I automatically had something against Mac computers. My family did not purchase any Apple products and my not-so-glamorous middle school years I was a part of the Audio/Visual Club, which focused on technology, where I had friends who were against Apple products and their purpose.
Needless to say, I grew up in an environment without Macs and other Apple products, so I had almost every reason to stay away from them. It wasn't until late into my senior year of high school I decided to switch my phone over from Android to Apple. It wasn't until then I realized how accessible and user-friendly an Apple product was so in deciding for a laptop for college, I went against everything my childhood had presented to me and decided to buy a MacBook Air.
Although I was skeptical at first, I soon realized a MacBook is the ideal college laptop to have. Here are 11 reasons why this is true.
1. User-friendly
The MacBook is designed to be easy to use. Whether it's using the Internet, sharing photos, or just playing games, the MacBook is affable to any user.
2. Lightweight
This component of the MacBook is great. It's not only lightweight but small enough to be placed in my purse. It fits in nearly every backpack so worrying the physical properties of a MacBook are unnecessary
3. Accessible apps in the dock
I love this option. When I'm on the Internet and need to switch over to the Outlook app to check my college email, I can do that in one click -- I don't have to minimize a page to click an icon or create a new tab to bring up the website.
4. Texting from laptop
This one is particularly useful because if you're in lecture and need to text someone, your professor will just assume you're taking notes. A great win!
5. Wide range of laptop accessories
When I had to replace my laptop cover, I had so many options to choose from. I eventually had to take BuzzFeed quiz to give me a random color (The color is pink).
6. iCloud syncing with your phone
This lets me sync all my photos and videos onto my laptop so if I lose my phone or something bad happens to it all of your prized photos will be safe and accessible from your MacBook from the iCloud
7. Garage Band
This free app is a program that allows users to record music at home and on the go. Although it may not be as advanced as LogicPro or other sound mixing applications, it becomes easy to use with its simple outline.
8. iMovie
Compared to Windows Movie Maker, I prefer iMovie when creating a video compilation of videos and pictures. The options when choosing design and music are diverse and fun so I never feel like I'm creating a bad video.
9. Sleek look
It's always nice to have a visually appealing laptop.
10. It's popular
If you run into technical difficulties, the odds of someone knowing how to help you are high. Many college students already rely on the MacBook as their laptop.
11. Don't need to be tech savvy
From experience, some PCs are hard to use. When I first switched over to a MacBook, I acclimated to the programs very quickly. For those out there wondering if they should switch over to a MacBook, I highly recommend it for all!
