Do you ever look in the mirror and hate the person staring back at you? Do you look at your body in disgust? Do the voices in your head tell you that you are not good enough or that you are not capable of doing something? How many times per day do you feed yourself these lies? Once? Twice? Ten times? When someone tells you that you are beautiful/handsome, do you disagree with them?
If you created a piece of art and you thought it was the most beautiful thing in the world, would your feelings be hurt if someone told you that it was ugly? If they said that they hated it or even tried to destroy it because they were so disgusted with the thought of it, would it break your heart? What if the one who created you heard all of the negative things you say about yourself? Would it not hurt his feelings?
We were created in the image of God. We were fearfully and wonderfully made. God hears our every thought. He knows when you step on that scale that has a higher number than you would like to see. He hears your thoughts when you look into that mirror every single day and tell yourself that you are not good enough. He feels the pain in your heart as the tears roll down your cheeks. He sees you laying there in bed, with the darkness all around you, crying yourself to sleep because you feel like the world is against you. It breaks his heart to see you that way, but you would not believe him if he told you that you were amazing.
The only thing that matters is what is on the inside. How clean is your heart? Do you help others the way that you should? Outward appearance will fade, but the soul lasts forever.
The truth is: You are amazing. You are beautiful. You are good enough. God sees every little thing that you hate about yourself and he loves you even more. He wants you to believe the truth. Insecurities are the devils lies. If you ever tell yourself that you are not good enough, no one loves you or that you are not needed in this world, you have listened to the devil. The devil wants you to feel like a failure so he can pull you away from God. Do not listen to those lies!
It is easy to love other people. The hard part is learning to love yourself. Once you learn to love yourself, everything else is more beautiful. You will learn to love the world around you more.
Tell yourself something good today.
God thinks you are amazing and so do I
But the LORD said to Samuel, "Do not consider his appearance or his height, for I have rejected him. The LORD does not look at the things people look at. People look at the outward appearance, but the LORD looks at the heart." -1 Samuel 16:7
