Something I look forward to every 2 years (sometimes 3) is the release of a new Taylor Swift album. It truly is the most fun to see how each album and era turns out, and Lover is really something special. With that being said, I've finally formed my final opinions on each of the songs and here are my top five:
1. Cruel Summer
He looks up grinning like a devil"
Without a doubt this song truly is a banger. I love the imagery of the use of the word Blue, as it is quite the departure from her use of imagery in the word red in the past. I will be jamming to this song even in the winter.
2. I Forgot That You Existed
"it isn't love, it isn't hate, it's just indifference"
The starting track on Lover begins with a catchy beat that immediately grabbed my attention. Everyone has someone in their life who has done them wrong and the moment you finally stop worrying about it is truly a great feeling. One that I think this song really captures in a more "lowkey"way.
3. Paper Rings
"and I hate accidents except when we went from friends to this"
One of the cutest songs on this album goes out to Paper Rings. This song really makes you speculate if Taylor and Joe are already married, but either way Taylor sounds sure in the fact that might be their future. I get strong Stay Stay Stay vibes, but with way more romance.
4. The Man
If I was a man, then I'd be the man"
This song makes me so happy for the reason being that all of Taylor's career has been her dealing with criticism about her relationships. It seems anyone else can get away with it, just not her. She addresses the blatant double standards in the music industry and with women's sexuality. She's had enough.
5. Miss Americana and The Heartbreak Prince
"They whisper in the hallway she's a bad bad girl"
One of the moodier tracks on the album, it earns a place in my top five because it's different from the other songs. I get I Know Places vibes with influence of other artists like Lana Del Rey and Marina and the Diamonds. I love the imagery in the lyrics that Swift continually brings to each of her albums.
