Why I Loved Visiting Disney At 20 Years Old

Why I Loved Visiting Disney At 20 Years Old
Hannah Berke

When I was younger, I was never really into Disney princesses. I was kind of a tom boy who would rather go out and play in the mud than watch the Disney princess movies. As of today, I still haven't seen many of the classic Disney movies; therefore, Disney World was never a place I was dying to go to, unlike every other kid I knew. At 20 years old, I was convinced I was one of the only kids who has never been to Disney World. This spring break, I finally changed that, and I was more than pleasantly surprised. In fact, I'm actually glad I waited until I was 20 to go, and I'll tell you why.

When I first found out I was going to Disney World, it was kind of a last minute thing my friend and I planned. I was for sure excited, but it was nothing that kept me from sleeping the night before. We decided to go to Epcot because it seemed the most interesting out of all the parks, plus it seemed the most "adult like" one. We got up early the next day and took the hour and a half drive to Orlando from where we were staying and paid for the ridiculously expensive parking and proceeded to go int the park. As we walked through the park, I instantly felt happier. Seeing all the little kids with their families and just the atmosphere itself was awesome. After taking 100 a few pictures for Snapchat, we decided to head over to the countries.

Let me tell you, this was one of the best experiences ever. The amount of effort and time that goes into each and every country segment is outrageous. The fact that every worker had on a name tag of where they were from within that country was a small detail I really enjoyed. The food was relatively expensive, just like all amusement park foods, but so worth it. The first bite to eat I had was in Morocco. I got lamb in a pita bread, so basically a gyro, and it was surprisingly delicious! It came with a side of salad with lentils and couscous, which were also very good. For a snack in between, I ended up getting some sorbet from France, which also did not disappoint. Last but not least, I went to a restaurant in Italy. Right away, I could tell this wasn't just some Maggianos or Olive Garden. Everything seemed authentic. I ordered the spaghetti and meatballs and was once again more than happy with my food. Disney World did not disappoint.

Now, the reason why I believe it was best for me to finally visit this magical place at 20 years old is because I was able to appreciate the things I wouldn't have appreciated when I was younger. No 7-year-old is going to comment on most of the aspects I mentioned but rather meet all the Disney characters and ride the rides. I even noticed how clean and well kept the park was, which in my opinion, is amazing based on the amount of traffic the the park gets on a daily basis. Yes, I did go on The Fast Track and do the virtual space mission, and while those were really fun, it was the other things I really appreciated more than I ever thought I would. I really am happy I finally was able to visit Disney World and encourage people of all ages to go at least once in their life. In my opinion, it really is the happiest place on Earth.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
