It's easy to stand in front of the mirror and criticize every single perceived flaw. Maybe you think your eyes are too far apart, you think you have too much cellulite, or that you're too short or tall. Or, maybe you lie in bed and remember every single mistake you've ever made. It's easy to dwell on these things.

It's not often that we take the time to stop and think to ourselves about the things we love about ourselves. Maybe you love that your hair is naturally glossy or that your good at thinking on your feet. We don't often focus on the things we like about ourselves because we don't view them as needing "fixed". However, it is just as important to think about the things you love about yourself because if we dwell too much on our insecurities, we will lose sight of the truly important aspects of who we are.

Much of the media marketed to women feeds of off women's insecurities, with magazines choosing to photoshop models and the promotion of diet supplements and plans specifically to women. It's not hard to see how it's harder for women to find positive aspects of themselves when the media tells them they will never be good enough and a woman's intelligence is often dismissed and not compensated to the same extent as a man's.

With this in mind, I asked 17 women what they loved about themselves, here are their answers:

1. "My hands!"

2. "I have a great sense of humor lol"

3. "My ability to give and love unconditionally, no matter how many times I'm hurt. Don't now how or why I do it, but I do."

4. "I love how much I love band members lmao"

5. "My hands!" (again)

6. "My communication skills!"

7. "My hair"

8. "I love that I always try to empathize and be kind to people. Even when it's disadvantageous to myself or inconvenient." 

9. "I love that I give people the benefit of the doubt, until I can't anymore."

10. "I love that I am kind. It comes effortlessly and I love that I get to set that example." 

11. "I love that I'm dedicated to my goals. When I want something, I find a way to get it."

12. "I love that I can enjoy the small things in life. I also love that I can always see an issue from someone else's perspective."

13. "I'm smart and I'm strong-willed, but still able to change my mind about something if presented with reasonable evidence that contradicts my original thoughts." 

14. "I love that I'm compassionate and emotional. I love that I laugh easily and a lot. I'm a good teacher and make strong connections with my students. Also, I love my eyebrows."

15. "I love how I support my friends."

16. "I love my work ethic." 

17. "I love that I'm able to start getting commissions for my art."
