I Love Watching You Grow

Watching your child grow makes you live in the moment.

I Love Watching You Grow
Andrea Schreckengast

I love watching you grow into the independent little boy you are. You are growing so fast, I thought everyone was crazy saying it, but they were right. You will not allow us to feed you; you want to feed yourself. Watching you feel the different foods as you try to eat them, makes me laugh. It is like you are unsure of what is put in front of you to eat, but once you try it, you want more.

It is incredible to see how happy you get when you look at daddy or me. The way your eyes light up the moment you see us, makes me feel all happy and warm inside. Your smile also lights up the room. I cannot get enough of watching you grow and play. You crawl super fast now, and you are working on your balance. I cannot wait to see you begin to walk. You will get there. You can do it; I know you can. Your determination can allow you to do anything you set your mind to it.

I love how you enjoy music. It settles you down when you are upset. Your face lights up the moment we put it on for you. You find new things to play with and laugh because of it. Your latest discovery is going to the cabinets to get the mixing bowls. Laughing at dogs barking is refreshing. It is hard to get you to laugh, and I am learning the simplest things make you smile. You teach me to live in the moment, and I thank you for that. Everything is new. You also teach me how to love deeper. I thought I knew how to love, but you and daddy show me every day there is always room to love deeper. I am so thankful to have you and daddy in my life.

I love hearing you call my name and crawl to me wanting me to pick you up. Try to stay little, baby boy. It will not last long. I promise I will always be there for you and daddy. Life can be crazy, and that will never change, but no matter what happens, you will still have mommy and daddy by your side. Stay happy, sweet boy. Happiness will get you far. When life gets bad, finding a way to be happy will help the bad times not last as long. It will be hard at times, but there is always a bight side.

The most important thing I want to tell you is to be yourself. Only you can be you. If you are true to yourself, everything will fall into place. Never lose yourself, if you can help it. No one can ever take your place because you are unique. I love you baby boy. I cannot wait to see all the things you accomplish. The world is yours to explore. Mommy and daddy are so proud of you and always will be. We love you with all our hearts.

Small towns certainly have their pros and cons. Many people who grow up in small towns find themselves counting the days until they get to escape their roots and plant new ones in bigger, "better" places. And that's fine. I'd be lying if I said I hadn't thought those same thoughts before too. We all have, but they say it's important to remember where you came from. When I think about where I come from, I can't help having an overwhelming feeling of gratitude for my roots. Being from a small town has taught me so many important lessons that I will carry with me for the rest of my life.

I can't say "thank you" enough to express how grateful I am for you coming into my life. You have made such a huge impact on my life. I would not be the person I am today without you and I know that you will keep inspiring me to become an even better version of myself.

Course registration at college can be a big hassle and is almost never talked about. Classes you want to take fill up before you get a chance to register. You might change your mind about a class you want to take and must struggle to find another class to fit in the same time period. You also have to make sure no classes clash by time. Like I said, it's a big hassle.

This semester, I was waitlisted for two classes. Most people in this situation, especially first years, freak out because they don't know what to do. Here is what you should do when this happens.

Challah vs. Easter Bread: A Delicious Dilemma

Is there really such a difference in Challah bread or Easter Bread?

Ever since I could remember, it was a treat to receive Easter Bread made by my grandmother. We would only have it once a year and the wait was excruciating. Now that my grandmother has gotten older, she has stopped baking a lot of her recipes that require a lot of hand usage--her traditional Italian baking means no machines. So for the past few years, I have missed enjoying my Easter Bread.
