My neighbor is Latino.

My neighbor is Black.

My neighbor is Muslim.

My neighbor is a woman.

My neighbor is gay.

My neighbor just wants to be accepted into society.

The world is made up of differences– racial, religious, sexual, economical...the list goes on.

Despite these difference, the world is more similar than not– we are all human.


Love Thy Neighbor

Love and cherish what makes us different

Love and cherish the people you pass by on the street.

Love and cherish everyone that walks through your life.

A different childhood.

A different understanding of the world.

A different expectation for the future.

A different sense of worth.


Love Thy Neighbor

Love and respect what makes us different

Love and respect that people have their own beliefs

Love and respect that everyone isn't going to agree with you

A different religious understanding

A different upbringing

A different emotional response

A different opinion


Love Thy Neighbor

Love and accept what makes us different.

Love and accept everyone's opinions.

Love and accept that everyone on this planet walks around with a different background.

A different identity.

A different set of beliefs.

A different ambition.

A different perspective.

Love Thy Neighbor

Because you are someone's neighbor, too.

Love Thy Neighbor

Because everyone isn't necessarily as fortunate as you.

Love Thy Neighbor

Because you are different, too.

Love Thy Neighbor

Because the world doesn't revolve around you.

To start off, here's something I don't say nearly enough: thank you. Thank you, thank you, thank you from the bottom of my heart. You do so much for me that I can't even put into words how much I appreciate everything you do - and have done - for me over the course of our relationship so far. While every couple has their fair share of tiffs and disagreements, thank you for getting through all of them with me and making us a better couple at the other end. With any argument, we don't just throw in the towel and say we're done, but we work towards a solution that puts us in a greater place each day. Thank you for always working with me and never giving up on us.

Ah, yes, good old Hauppauge. We are that town in the dead center of Long Island that barely anyone knows how to pronounce unless they're from the town itself or live in a nearby area.
