Love Speaks Louder Than Hate

Know Him, Feel Him, Mimic Him

Love Speaks Louder Than Hate
Thao Lan Nguyen Le

I serve a God of love. Too often we forget. We forget to show love to another even if we don't see eye to eye. We forget to accept others even though they're different than us, and we fail to remember that all men are equal and no one is greater or more deserving of His love than another. I serve a God of mercy and forgiveness. Too often we forget to forgive our neighbor who hurt us in ways they'll never understand and will never apologize for it. We forget to remember the mercy He shows us every day in allowing us to breathe in the oxygen we do not deserve. I serve a God who is omniscient. Most times, we forget that even though we don't know all the answers, we have a God who does. We forget that we have a God who works all things out according to His timing, and maybe if we'd allow Him to take control, we'd be less unhappy with ourselves and our lives. I serve a God who is just. We often forget how our God shows us mercy but will also reprimand us, just as our earthly fathers were commanded to do. Too often we get angry with God when He disciplines us for our sinful habits, and never want anything to do with Him because "He has no right to do that," when in reality, He has every right and more to do that. I serve a God who is King. Too often, we forget that regardless of who is our president or who is our boss at work, God is our ultimate ruler and reigns over all Heaven and Earth.

As Christians, we are called to love, we are called to accept, and we are called to spread the gospel. Nothing in this world gets under my skin more than someone who claims the name of Christ and treats people like they're worthless. Our goal should be to love and welcome people into our open arms. Now let's be clear, I intend to listen to and respect everyone and their beliefs and lifestyles but that does NOT mean we have to agree. Just because we disagree does not make me a bigot, racist, or intolerant; it makes me a human being with a brain and basic human rights. The same goes for anyone else. With this being said, that does not give me, as a firm believer in Christ, a VIP pass in life. It does not mean I am any better than anyone else for any reason. I am called to love and accept each person for who they are and where they come from. One thing I preach so heavily on is the simple idea of, "How are we going to bring others to know Christ, the very One we're supposed to BE LIKE, if no one wants anything to do with us ourselves because of how intolerable we are?" All that attitude does is push people away. We also have to understand that not only is God loving and kind, but He is just and righteous. He does what is fair in HIS eyes because He is omniscient and knows what is best for us and our well being. That being said, not only do we not have all the answers, but when we are faced with a situation in which we realize we don't have all the answers, we don't have the right to question Him.

My God is good, great, loving, king, and just. He is not a bigot, intolerable, rude, impatient, hateful, or anything most "Christians" are today. Please, if you have been faced with someone who makes you feel lesser than them or anything less than a human being and blamed it on God or them being "Christian", ignore them, because that is not real. Never base your opinions of MY God because of someone who wouldn't know Jesus himself if He walked through their front door. Experience the love and joy of Christ for yourself before you decide to make any judgment.

I serve a God who is loving, merciful, just, omniscient, righteous, king, and Lord of all.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

These powerful lyrics remind us how much good is inside each of us and that sometimes we are too blinded by our imperfections to see the other side of the coin, to see all of that good.

Every Girl Needs To Listen To 'She Used To Be Mine' By Sara Bareilles

The song was sent to me late in the middle of the night. I was still awake enough to plug in my headphones and listen to it immediately. I always did this when my best friend sent me songs, never wasting a moment. She had sent a message with this one too, telling me it reminded her so much of both of us and what we have each been through in the past couple of months.

Zodiac wheel with signs and symbols surrounding a central sun against a starry sky.

What's your sign? It's one of the first questions some of us are asked when approached by someone in a bar, at a party or even when having lunch with some of our friends. Astrology, for centuries, has been one of the largest phenomenons out there. There's a reason why many magazines and newspapers have a horoscope page, and there's also a reason why almost every bookstore or library has a section dedicated completely to astrology. Many of us could just be curious about why some of us act differently than others and whom we will get along with best, and others may just want to see if their sign does, in fact, match their personality.

Being a good person does not depend on your religion or status in life, your race or skin color, political views or culture. It depends on how good you treat others.

We are all born to do something great. Whether that be to grow up and become a doctor and save the lives of thousands of people, run a marathon, win the Noble Peace Prize, or be the greatest mother or father for your own future children one day. Regardless, we are all born with a purpose. But in between birth and death lies a path that life paves for us; a path that we must fill with something that gives our lives meaning.
